Bin Chen

Bin Chen is a Distinguished Professor of environment modelling at Beijing Normal University. He obtained B.E. degree in electrical engineering from Zhejiang University, and Ph.D. degree in environmental science from Peking University. His research interests include ecological economics, energy-water nexus and urban ecosystem. Dr. Chen has published over 200 peer-reviewed papers in prestigious international journals such as Science Advances, Nature Communications, Nature Climate Change, PNAS, and Trends in Biotechnology. He has 8 ESI-Most Cited Articles and 12 Top 25 Hottest Articles (Elsevier). His works are widely recognized and have more than 10000 citations with H-index of 44 according to Web of Science. He is serving as Associate Editor of Journal of Cleaner Production, Frontiers of Earth Science, Subject Editor of Applied Energy, and an editorial board member of Energy, Ecological Modelling, Journal of Environmental Management, Journal of Hydrodynamics and Ecological Informatics, etc. He was also among the organizers and keynote speakers for various international conferences.

Dr. Gregg Marland

Dr. Gregg Marland joined the Geology Department in 2011 as an Adjunct Research Professor, and has a dual appointment with the Research Institute for Environment, Energy and Economics. Dr. Marland joins the RIEEE from the Oak Ridge National Laboratory where he served for over 35 years and since 2000 as Distinguished Research and Development Staff. He has served as a member of the National Research Council Committee on Methods for Estimating Greenhouse Gas Emissions, co-chair of the United State Interagency Carbon Cycle Science Working Group, and National Research Council Committee on Global Change Research. His current research interests focus on the environmental impacts of energy systems, particularly on global climate change. He recently served the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) where he was lead author of Guidelines for National Emissions Inventories (2006), lead on for the Special Report on Carbon Capture and Storage, contributing author on Radiative Forcing of Climate Change for the First Assessment Report, lead author on Energy Primer for the Second Assessment Report, lead author on Land-Use Change and forestry for the Third Assessment Report, and lead author on Special Report on Land-Use, Land-Use Change and Forestry. He currently serves as a editorial board of the Environmental Science and Policy Journal and editorial advisory board for the Mitigation and Adaptation Strategies for Global Change Journal.

Dr. Yang Xia

Dr. Yang Xia joined in Nature as a Senior Editor in July 2020 and used to be the senior editor at Nature Communications during 2017-2020. Dr Yuli Shan is an Associate Professor in Sustainable Transitions, University of Birmingham. He is a global highly cited researcher since 2020. He is a contributing author of the IPCC 6 th Assessment Report; an overseas standing director of National Association of Input-Output and Big Data of China; an editorial board member of several journals such as Journal of Cleaner Production, Advances in Climate Change Research and Frontiers in Sustainable Cities. Yuli's research focuses on greenhouse gas emission accounts, climate change economics, and sustainable development , with a special focus on cities from developing countries. He has published over 130 papers in high-impact journals, such as Nature Climate Change , Nature Sustainability, Nature Food, and Science Advances. His paper has been cited over 11,000 times (h-index 49). 25 of his papers are ESI hot papers, and 18 are ESI highly-cited papers. He has co-built an open emission dataset (CEADs ) to provide the most up-to-date regional emission and energy data for China and other developing countries. Yuli has won a dozen academic prizes including the Green Talents. Charles Godfray is the dean of Oxford Martin College and professor of population biology at Oxford University. He is currently chairman of the scientific advisory board of the Ministry of environment and development. Minhan Dai is a Chair Professor of Marine Biogeochemistry at Xiamen University, China. He currently serves as the Director of the State Key Laboratory of Marine Environmental Science.Minhan Dai earned his B.S. degree from Xiamen University and his Ph.D. from Université Pierre & Marie Curie (Paris VI), France in 1995. After a Doherty Foundation Postdoctoral Fellowship at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI), he took a faculty position at Xiamen University in 1998. His research focuses on carbon biogeochemistry in marginal and estuarine systems, geochemistry of radioactive elements in surface and ground water, geochemistry of trace metals in coastal and estuarine environments and geochemical studies of colloidal material in the transport of trace metals, organic carbon, and radionuclines in surface and ground waters. Dr. Liang is the Secretary General and co-founder of the UK-China (Guangdong) CCUS Centre, a deputy director of China's Carbon Capture Utilisation and Storage Committee, and a standing committee member in the China's Climate Investment and Finance Association (CIFA), an honorary Professor in the Bartlett School of Sustainable Construction at the University College London. Dr Liang is also an associate editor of Emerging Market and Finance and is an editorial board member of International Journal of Greenhouse Gas Control. He has been honourary professor in Xiamen University and Guangdong University of Foreign Studies in China. Xi Liang has been appointed as the International Lead of the Asian Development Banks CCS Centre of Excellence (Guangdong) project, PI of the World Bank Network Carbon Market (China), and PI of multiple UK Foreign and Commonwealth Government Office (FCO) Strategic Programme Fund projects. Xi recently was PI for BHP funded research grant to conduct techno-economic analysis on CCUS in the iron and steel sector in China. Dr. Liang has been leading on a total of GBP 2.15 million in research grants and on the USD 20 million China Resources Power Haifeng carbon capture pilot project. He is also the co-founder and board director of the first CCUS project operational entity in China, Reduce Carbon Limited, a subsidiary of China Resources Power.
