Brian is our Optician Manager and has been with the company since 1997. Brian studied sciences and optics at Seneca College in Toronto, and obtained his Optician license at Ryerson College. He has since taken update courses at Georgian College in Barrie. He brings a great deal of experience to our company and assists you as a BOARD-CERTIFIED Contact Lens Fitter.
Born in St. Thomas, Ontario, he has many hobbies which include fishing, reading, boating, cooking and bird watching. He obtained his commercial deep sea diving license at the Canadian Underwater Training Centre ship in Toronto.
Brian manages the optical end of the business, specializing in contact lenses and bifocals as well as low vision aids and specialty lenses. He also works with children to obtain the best possible fit and vision correction.
Born in Peterborough, Jill is the owner of Nelms Opticians. Jill is from a longstanding optical family and has worked in the industry since she was a teenager, learning the business from the inside out.
Jill earned her B.A. in Psychology and English Literature from Carleton University in Ottawa. Attending graduate school at Harvard Radcliffe in Cambridge, Massachusetts, she earned the Graduate Certificate of Management.
Jill lived in the United States for a number of years, before returning to raise her family here in Peterborough. She has been fortunate to be able to have the most wonderful and interesting group of friends, to travel extensively and to experience the road less travelled. She has two beautiful, intelligent daughters who are her light and joy.
Pat is the business manager and has been with Nelms Opticians since 1998 (although she took 2 years off, got her AZ driving license and drove team with her husband across N. America.)
Born in Ireland, she has 4 children with 7 grandchildren. She enjoys boating, camping, reading, travelling and folk art.
