PANE E VINO - Key Persons

Alfredo Temelini

Job Titles:
  • Owner
  • Chef - Owner
Passionate chef-owner, Alfredo Temelini, has never met a stranger. His hands-on zeal for serving Italian family favorites, scratch made pasta and a full menu of tastefully composed cuisine is what has inspired him to welcome guests into Pane e Vino as he would his own home since taking ownership of the restaurant in 2010. Temelini was born in Northern Italy, but much of his culinary influence hails from Emilia Romagna where his mother, Loretta, and grandmothers, Norina e Lidia originated. "I have to thank all of them for giving me a gift that few people receive, which is allowing me to watch and participate while they cooked for our family and friends." Temelini grew up visiting tiny panificios and shopping the open market daily for ingredients to prepare lunch and dinner with his mother. In their coastal town of Pesaro, fresh fish was as abundant as the fruits and vegetables that changed with each season. Temelini infuses his mother's love of homemade pasta and ravioli incorporated with flavors of traditional Tuscan recipes to continue the tradition of creating memorable meals. "I have always worked to provide a dining experience like no other in Charleston where food is served in an intimate atmosphere surrounded by live oaks, hanging lanterns and a lovely courtyard that offers a taste of Old World nostalgia." When he is not busy in the kitchen, you will find Alfredo feeding his farm full of horses, cattle, chickens, turkeys, quail, ducks, dogs, cats, bees, a donkey and his prize kunekune pigs: Francis ("Pancetta") and Kevin ("Salsiccia") Bacon.
