Andrew Pugh

Andrew Pugh is currently in his final year at University of Nevada, Reno Mackay School of Earth Sciences and Engineering. While at UNR Andrew specialized in Soil Profile Analysis and Neo-Tectonics in the Canterbury Plains region of New Zealand. He was hired as a Field Geologist by the Baja Basins REU to create field maps, collect samples, develop soil profiles, and operate laboratory equipment for Grain Size Analysis. The findings were presented at the Annual Geological Society of America Meeting in Denver under the title Constraining a Chronosequence of Fluvial Terraces using Soil Analysis and GIS Mapping in the Santa Rosalia Basin, BCS, Mexico. Andrew is also employed by the Desert Research Institute where he performs Grain Size Analysis, Bulk Density Analysis and GIS maps for clients. As a Staff Geologist for Rio Blanco Development, Andrew lends his knowledge of geologic process, GIS software proficiency, and laboratory experience to support our projects. He is well versed in geochemistry, and believes that with enough data and dedication there is no problem too small or too big to take on.

Mr. Pugh is an accomplished construction entrepreneur having served the past nearly 20 years almost equally between the private and public sectors. Mr. Pugh developed his scientific disciplines during 10 years of construction project field management experience that included the installation of epoxy polymer resin systems for the preservation of our deteriorating infrastructure of concrete structures, pavement and bridges. During the past decade Mr. Pugh served the role as Public Works Inspector for a growing South Valley Town nearing 60,000 population. He was responsible inspector of record for nearly a dozen high profile construction projects, including but not limited to residential and commercial subdivision underground utilities and public roadways, sidewalks, curbs and storm water systems. Projects totaling into the millions of dollars, included grid tie solar, water and sanitary sewer main lines, a compressed natural gas fueling station for a fleet of transit buses as well as upgrades and improvements for a municipal sewage treatment plant. His mining experience began in 1988 with the founding of Rio Blanco Development. As a free-lance consultant he served as strategist, exploration- prospector, project and business development advisor for several small industrial mineral, and construction specialty aggregate producers. As interim (acting) project manager Mr. Pugh under contract has performed the following functions: site identification, negotiating on behalf of the owners to secure financing, coordinating the construction of infrastructure, pre-feasibility up to and through bankability (sale) stage. Using his paralegal studies he drafted preliminary leases, contractual agreements, shareholder agreements, terms of sale, MOU's, PPM's and utility supply service agreements.
