At St Mary's our goal is to ensure that every child is given every opportunity possible to develop and gro w through our inclusive and holistic curriculum. We prepare our learners to belong, believe, and achieve with confidence to meet the challenges that life brings... Underpinning our strength based curriculum is the desire for every child to reach their full potential. To support this, we use a school wide approach to structured literacy. We offer explicit, systematic teaching that focuses on phonological awareness, word recognition, phonics and decoding, spelling, and syntax at the sentence and paragraph levels across all year levels. We screen all children when they arrive at school as a baseline for development... At St Mary's we use the latest research into literacy and follow a structured literacy approach. This means that all children including children who shows signs of neurodiversity are supported and nurtured through the process of reading, spelling and writing.
