It's May 2011 and I am coming up on 20 years of sobriety in October, just one day at a time, but I am truly amazed at how fast time has flown by. When I first came into AA I thought I would be bored to death with nothing to do. The truth is I spring out of bed and can't find enough time in the day to get done all the things that I am really excited and passionate about getting done... Let me tell you, I do qualify for this program, I have been in the drunk tank more times than you can shake a stick at by the time I was 19 and did my turns in the hospitals and psych wards. Believe me I tried everything under the sun to quit drinking and didn't really grasp how it affected my life till I stumbled into the rooms of AA. I was truly blessed when I came in. I met a drunk 9 months sober named Bill W. He shook my hand and with his AA buddies, scooped me up, took me to meetings, feed me, gave me work and took me through the book. I have never taken a drink since.
