HUKARERE

Hukarere is made up of a mix of kōhine who board in our hostel or day students. With a roll that sits just under 100 students in the school and 60 in our hostel it ensure that each kōhine receives personal attention and provides a strong whānau like network in school and hostel alike. We strive to produce future leaders who will be strong in the virtues of Te Hāhi Mihinare and rich in Te Reo me ōna tikanga with skills that will help lead their whānau, hapū and iwi. Our school has four houses each reflects a important pillar in history of our kura... Hukarere Girls' College was established in 1875 by the William's family. Originally opened under the name Hukarere Native School for girls the school was located on Mataruahou (Bluff Hill, Napier). In 2003 Hukarere relocated to Herepoho, Eskdale just 15 minutes out of Napier.
