Dr Amy House

Originally from rural Tasmania, Amy graduated from the University of Tasmania in 2012 before relocating to Townsville to undertake her internship at The Townsville Hospital. She worked in various locations throughout North Queensland whilst undertaking General Practice training including Palm Island, Cairns and Townsville, before obtaining her Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2017. After spending 2020 in Melbourne and becoming a new mother, Amy has now returned to Townsville and is looking forward to recommencing work at North Shore General Practice. Amy enjoys all aspects of General Practice but particularly maternal, infant and child health and is currently undertaking further training in this area. Amy enjoys forming meaningful therapeutic relationships with her patients and understands the importance of empowering patients to play an active role in maintaining their own health and reaching their health related goals. Outside of work she enjoys spending time with her family, keeping active, reading and travelling.

Dr Carolyn Nguyen

Carolyn is originally from Canada and now considers Australia home. She graduated from James Cook University in 2018 and has spent the past three years working as a resident at Rockhampton Base Hospital & Townsville University Hospital prior to pursuing her career in General Practice. She has worked in various medical and surgical specialties during her time in the hospital. She is interested in and enjoys all aspects of General Practice Medicine. Outside of work, she enjoys travelling, walking her dog and playing piano.

Dr Chong Heng

Chong was awarded with MBBS in 1992 from the University of QLD. He completed his internship at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in 1993 where he worked for 4 years gaining experience in General Medicine, General Surgery, Accident & Emergency, ENT, Neurosurgery, Vascular Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Renal Medicine, Paediatrics and Plastic Surgery. Chong relocated to North QLD in 1997 to complete his General Practice training and joined North Shore General Practice in 1999. He commenced studying acupuncture in 2000 and was awarded his Fellowship of Australian Medical Acupuncture College in 2007. He is an accredited GP Supervisor and is involved with the teaching and the supervision of the next generation of General Practitioners. He chooses to supervise because he's passionate about general practice and shaping the careers of future doctors. Along with his wealth of knowledge, this passion for teaching is then transferred to the next generation of GP's, who in return continue to give back to the profession. Chong is multilingual, being fluent in Bahasa Malaysian, Mandarin and English.

Dr Christopher Daniel

Chris graduated from University of Birmingham Medical School in 1998. He has worked in both, Hospital and Primary care settings in Townsville, Perth, and the United Kingdom. He completed his General Practice Training obtaining his Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2004, having also completed a Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. He enjoys all aspects of general practice and is another one of our Accredited GP Supervisors involved with the teaching and the supervision of the next generation of General Practitioners. He chooses to supervise because he's passionate about general practice and shaping the careers of future doctors. Along with his wealth of knowledge, this passion for teaching is then transferred to the next generation of GP's, who in return continue to give back to the profession.

Dr Claire Ogden

Claire is a Townsville local who graduated from James Cook University in 2016. She worked for three years as a resident at the Townsville University Hospital, before pursuing a career in General Practice. She is interested in all aspects of general practice, with a soft spot for women and children's health. Claire joins the team after coming off maternity leave. She loves spending time with her family, and wheel throwing as a hobby.

Dr Dianne Clayton

Dianne graduated from James Cook University in 2012. Following graduation, she worked for 2 years at The Townsville Hospital before commencing her General Practice Training program. She was awarded her Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2017. Dianne has a special interest in Women's and Children's Health and has a plan to undertake more training in the coming years.

Dr Elizabeth Dawson

Elizabeth is a Townsville local who graduated from James Cook University in 2013. After working in the hospital system in both Townsville and Ayr, she decided her passion was General Practice and commenced General Practice Training in 2016. She obtained her fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in early 2018. Elizabeth enjoys all areas of general practice with particular interest in children's health, adolescent health and women's health, especially pregnancy care, breastfeeding medicine and fertility/infertility. As a mum herself, she understands the struggles and joys that parenthood (and the journey to become parents) can bring. She also has experience with chronic disease and mental health management. With a caring, down-to-earth approach to medicine, she enjoys getting to know her patients (from the very young to the not-so-young) as she assists them to meet their health goals and improve their quality of life. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, reading, theatre and travel.

Dr Martin McGahan

Martin has been working in the Northern Beaches area since 1993 and during this time he has developed a special interest in chronic disease and palliative care.

Dr Rachelle McNamara

Rachelle graduated from James Cook University in 2013 and completed her residency at Redcliffe and Redland Hospitals in Brisbane. She completed her Rural Generalist training in 2020 with Advanced Skills in Emergency Medicine and Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) and Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM). Rachelle also works at the Ingham Hospital as a Rural Generalist GP Obstetrician and as a Medical Educator with James Cook University General Practice Training. In her spare time she enjoys working on her family's sheep and cattle station, travelling and spending time with her husband and Jack Russell's Tilly and Coco.

Dr Raymond Lo

Ray is a Townsville local, having graduated in 2016 with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery from Townsville's very own James Cook University. He joined the North Shore General Practice team in 2020 and completed his Fellowship in 2022. He had previously spent 2 years at the Townsville Hospital with rotations in Medicine, Orthopaedics, Mental Health, Emergency Medicine, and Rehabilitation. He has recently completed some Locum Cover in Tasmania. He is interested in all aspects of General Practice Medicine. He speaks Cantonese.

Dr Tracey Belle

Tracey grew up in North Queensland and graduated from James Cook University in 2010. She interned at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital before taking up a post in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Bundaberg Hospital in 2012. Tracey moved back home to Townsville in 2014 and continued to work in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Townsville Hospital until early 2017 when she decided to pursue a career in General Practice. Whilst she still has a passion for Women's Health, she enjoys the diversity of General Practice. These strong foundations in women's health allow her to offer care for women in all stages of life. This includes management, advice and referrals in relation to contraception (including Implanon NXT and Mirena IUD insertion), cervical cancer screening, pregnancy shared care, menopause, prolapse and urinary incontinence. She loves working with children and holds a Diploma of Child Health through the Sydney Child Health Program. Outside of work, she enjoys keeping active and spending time outdoors. She is mum to 2 beautiful little boys and her partner runs a local small business; thus, family and community are very important to her, as is maintaining a healthy work/life balance.

Dr Trish Brown

Trish graduated from the University of Queensland in 1989. She obtained a Diploma of Obstetrics in 1993, and Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 1995. Trish enjoys all aspects of General Practice but has a particular interest in Women's Health.
