Dr. Gertler is board certified in both gastroenterology and internal medicine with thirty years clinical experience. After graduating the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in 1970, an additional five years were spent in internal medicine residency and gastroenterology fellowship training at Boston institutions including St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lahey Clinic and the Boston Veteran's Administration Hospital. In addition he has participated in numerous holistic courses and workshops including SCENAR training, hands on healing techniques of Quantum Touch, herbal medicine and nutrition and hypnosis. He studied for four years with a Native American healer. Training in chelation therapy and intravenous therapies was obtained in conjunction with the American College of the Advancement of Medicine. He has obtained special training in the holistic approach to Lyme disease, candida and chronic hepatitis with emphasis on functional medicine.
