Alang Ship

Alang Ship Recycling Yard A modern wonder of Gujarat, the largest ship-breaking yard of the world at Alang is a fantastic spectacle in itself. It is located on the coast between Bhavnagar and Talaja. Large ships from America, Europe, and Asia are brought here to be scrapped. The reason behind the selection of this site was the nature of its tide, suitable for such maritime activities and the proximity of industrial zones that could utilize its metal and other scrap. It is largest ship-breaking site of INDIA. Here super tankers, container ships, warships and other vessels are reduced to scrap by 20,000 workers toiling day and night.

Gandhi Smriti

Gandhi Smriti stands in the centre of Bhavnagar city as an institution that commemorates the life and meritorious service of the Father of the Nation. Established in 1955. Gandhi Smriti in Bhavnagar preserves a huge collection of books and other memorabilia used by Mahatma Gandhi. The repository also displays photographs that recreate the various events in the life of this great leader. Artefacts like religious carvings and betel cutters that are cultural representatives of Saurashtra are also found in Gandhi Smriti at Bhavnagar.

Lock Gate

Lock Gate The port is equipped with The Lock Gate that was built 100 years ago. It is a very old dry dock of the country, which is still operational. It is at present used for the making of ships. The Lock gates impound the sea-water in order to keep the barges floating in the time of low tides.
