Apricots are a very sensitive fruit, and our goal is to grow, pack and ship apricots so our customers will find them sweet and juicy... The food safety program includes the use of Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs) during planting, crop protection, growing, and harvesting. When implementing our GFSI benchmarked GAP program we focused on food security, adjacent land use, water quality along with use practices, equipment sanitation, soil fertility management, wildlife, pest plus vermin control, crop protection, worker hygiene in addition to sanitary facilities, harvesting practices, and traceability. Our GFSI benchmarked GAP program also includes non-production items such as training of employees and use of training materials. Food Safety is not a static program... This year we have been working towards getting certified according to the GVSI benchmarked standard Global GAP. We are scheduled to go through our first third party field audit this May.
