Brian T. Szura

Dr. Brian Szura was the third physician to join Cary Orthopaedics in 1992 and now is the Practice's Senior Partner. Dr. Szura was one of the first Sports Fellowship trained orthopaedists in the area. This subspecialty training was instrumental in establishing and expanding the many relationships the practice has enjoyed with professional franchises, local high schools, colleges and universities through the Triangle.

Dr. Edouard F. Armour

Dr. Edouard F. Armour joined the Cary Orthopaedics team in 2009 as a sports medicine orthopaedic surgeon, and he is primarily focused on reconstructive and arthroscopic management of the shoulder and knee. Active himself as a triathlon competitor, Dr. Armour especially enjoys working with athletes to help them achieve their competitive and wellness goals. He attended the University of Windsor in Ontario for undergrad and Vanderbilt University School of Medicine for medical school. He then completed his internship and residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City. Before moving to the Triangle, Dr. Armour practiced orthopaedic medicine at Kernodle Clinic in Burlington and served as the team physician for multiple organizations, including Elon University, the Burlington Indians and the Burlington Royals. Dr. Armour is certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery and has been a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons since 2003. He heads the Orthopaedic Section at Wake Med Cary Hospital and chairs the hospital's Surgical Services Executive Committee. He enjoys working with teens throughout the Triangle, volunteering for the Athens High School Health Sciences magnet program and serving as Middle Creek High School's team physician. Dr. Armour feels privileged to work with his patients, and his goal is to always combine the highest quality care with compassion for people of all ages. Dr. William K. Andersen

Dr. William K. Andersen joined Cary Orthopaedics in 1996 as his first job after his Orthopaedic residency. He attended Columbia University in Manhattan for his undergraduate, New York University for medical school, Dartmouth (Thayer) for graduate engineering school, and George Washington University in Washington, D.C., for his Orthopaedic residency. He completed a Sports Medicine fellowship at the Methodist Sports Medicine Center in Indianapolis. Dr. Andersen is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery in General Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine, and he has been a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons since 2001. After completing medical school and a graduate degree in engineering, he realized orthopaedic surgery was an ideal match for his skills. In addition to problem-solving in the operating room, he enjoys getting to know his patients and their families and educating them about orthopaedic conditions. Dr. Andersen has always been proud to be a physician at Cary Orthopaedics, a unique practice that attracts the brightest and most talented surgeons and staff to this wonderful geographical area. Raymond M. Carroll

Orthopaedic shoulder specialist Dr. Raymond Carroll joined Cary Orthopaedics in 2006 and loves practicing medicine in his home state. Dr. Carroll specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of shoulder disorders including rotator cuff tears, shoulder impingement, labral tears, shoulder arthritis, shoulder instability and shoulder fractures such as clavicle fractures and proximal humerus fractures. He is a nationally recognized shoulder surgeon who also performs Independent Medical Exams and second opinion services for patients with shoulder conditions resulting from personal injury, complications of shoulder surgery and workers' compensation claims. With extensive experience in arthroscopic shoulder surgery and shoulder replacement, Dr. Carroll routinely performs arthroscopic rotator cuff repairs, arthroscopic labral repairs and arthroscopic shoulder surgery for other conditions. He specializes in shoulder arthroplasty (replacement) including anatomic shoulder replacement, reverse shoulder replacement and partial shoulder replacement. He is also experienced in the surgical treatment of shoulder instability and shoulder dislocations. For patients who require surgery, Dr. Carroll is trained in arthroscopic labral repair, arthroscopic posterior labral repair, open bankart/labral repair, open capsular shift and latarjet or coracoid transfer procedures. In addition to his medical training and residency, Dr. Carroll has extensive credentials as a shoulder specialist and sports medicine specialist. He was fellowship trained at the Center for Shoulder, Elbow and Sports Medicine at New York Orthopaedic Hospital and Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center in New York City. He became certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery in 2004 and received a Subspecialty Certificate in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine in 2008. He has been a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons since 2006. Dr. Carroll is the team physician for Holly Springs High School, where he enjoys contributing his medical expertise in the community. At Cary Orthopaedics, he gets to know his patients and enjoys helping each one reach his or her personal goals while recovering from injury or surgery.
