Dana Haagensen is a registered Professional Engineer (PE) in Fire Protection (FPE) in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and has served the fire service and building officials in various roles for nearly a quarter century. He is also registered in Connecticut, Maine and Rhode Island. He is a former Fire Protection Engineer for both the NFPA and the Massachusetts State Fire Marshal's Office. He has participated as a member of the Massachusetts Board of Regulations and Standards (BBRS), Massachusetts Building Code Appeals Board, Massachusetts Fire Protection Fire Prevention Advisory Committee (FPFP), and task groups of the Massachusetts Board of Fire Prevention Regulations (BFPR). He has developed and instructed fire and building code training throughout the United States for many recognized trade organizations, such as: National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), Massachusetts Firefighting Academy (MFA), Fire Prevention Association of Massachusetts (FPAM), Michigan Fire Inspectors Society, Fire Chiefs Association of Massachusetts (FCAM), American Fire Sprinkler Association (AFSA), and the New England Building Officials Education Association (NEBOEA).
