Please feel free to call our office at (732) 828-8700. Barbara Ungar has been an attorney for almost 30 years and in private practice for the last 19 years. She is a former Assistant Essex County Counsel in the Essex County Counsel's Office from 1988 through 1990 and then was employed as a Deputy Attorney General with the Division of Criminal Justice of the Office of the Attorney General from 1990 through 1999. Since 1999, she has maintained a private practice in New Brunswick, New Jersey devoted to representation of individuals charged with indictable criminal offenses in the Superior Courts of New Jersey and with individuals charged with disorderly persons offenses, petty disorderly persons offenses, DWI and DUI charges throughout the municipal courts in New Jersey. She also strongly advocates for her clients addressing juvenile offenses, DCPP proceedings and domestic violence proceedings in the Family Courts in New Jersey. She has recently argued and was successful with a PTI Appeal in the Appellate Division involving second degree gun charges. Barbara Ungar is the Past Chair of the Criminal Law Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association and is the past Chair of the Municipal Practice Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association for two terms. Ms. Ungar is also the Past Chair of the Subcommittee on Judicial Independence in the Municipal Courts and has presided over four Public Hearings on behalf of the New Jersey State Bar Association. She is a frequent lecturer for the Municipal Court Practice Section and the Criminal Law Section and ICLE on municipal court defense, DWI, criminal defense and Bail Reform under Criminal Justice Reform effective on January 1, 2017.
