HARTSELLE EYE CARE - Key Persons


Dr. Susan Persall

Dr. Susan Persall graduated from the University of Montevallo in 1997, where she Majored in Biology and Minored in Chemistry. She obtained her Doctor of Optometry and Master in Vision Science from UAB School of Optometry in 2001. Dr. Susan began practicing in Hartselle, Alabama after the purchase Hartselle Eye Care in 2001. HEC outgrew it's original location and she went on to establish a new office building to accommodate the growing practice. She has successfully run the practice for over 18 years. She now staffs the office with eight employees. In addition to Optometry, Dr. Susan looks forward to time with her family, and enjoys travel. She currently lives in Hartselle with her husband, Sean, and her son, Coleton. She spends time watching her son march in the Hartselle Junior High Band, in which he plays the saxophone. She also attends Coleton's many Track and Field meets. She is an active member at her church and teaches Sunday School to the church youth,

Jackson Terry

Jackson is the Optometric Technician at Hartselle Eye Care. He is responsible for conducting patient diagnostic testing, measuring and recording vision, testing eye function, and much more. He has been with Hartselle Eye Care since January of 2010. He lives in Trinity with his dog, Emma and cat, Izzy. Jackson graduated from Vinemont High School in 2013. Jackson enjoys hiking, reading, movies, canoeing, and visiting new places. "During my time at Hartselle Eye Care, I have developed a real passion for optometry. I know each of us truly love and care for our patients. I look forward to furthering my career at this amazing practice!" - Jackson Terry

Melissa Kent

Melissa is responsible for overseeing Insurance Accounts Receivable, maintaining our HIPAA compliance, and our training and business accreditations. Melissa specializes in insurance billing and patient relations. She has a multitude of knowledge in the every day procedures within our practice. She offers support to the exam staff and our reception desk when needed. She began her role with Hartselle Eye Care in February of 2020. Melissa moved to Hartselle from Decatur in 2003. She is the mother to three children, Ali (Andrew), Mitchell, and Ashley. Before coming to HEC, Melissa worked as a substitute in the Hartselle school system. She is also mom to two dogs and a cat. She enjoys football, travel, music, and all things related to her children. "We have the best patients in the world! Our staff is more like family than co-workers. We all enjoy what we do and the patients we do it for! I am so grateful for my position at HEC and look forward to the future." - Melissa Kent

Tisha Blankenship

Tisha is one of the smiling faces that will welcome you as you enter our office. She is responsible for greeting patients as they check-in and out, coordinating patient care to determine the necessary treatment plan, and maintaining appointments. Tisha is also trained in frame repair, assists on our sales floor, and offers support to the exam staff. She started with Hartselle Eye Care in February 2020. Tisha is a Hartselle native that has three daughters and two cats. She worked in banking for over ten years prior to her joining our team. Tisha enjoys all things sports. working out, and spending time with her girls. "I was a patient of Hartselle Eye Care for years before joining the staff. My experience with HEC as a patient is what gave me the desire to come and be apart of their team. I love each of the wonderful people that I work with. Meeting and caring for our patients is an added bonus. I love HEC!" - Tisha Blankenship
