Integrated Drought Management mitigates drought risk and builds drought resilience by addressing multiple components of drought management, including disaster risk reduction, climate adaptation strategies and national water policies. Integrated Drought Management accounts for the needs of all stakeholders affected by drought. In 2013, the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and the Global Water Partnership (GWP) launched the Integrated Drought Management Programme (IDMP) to address drought issues more effectively.
