Henry Lacap, Esq., has been exclusively engaged in property tax related litigation for over 23 years. He has successfully tried or negotiated literally thousands of property tax appeals on a wide range of properties, from nursing homes to golf courses, fiber optic cable to printing presses, resulting in millions of dollars of refunds and tax savings for Janata & Associates's clients. Mr. Lacap is a former Assistant Corporation Counsel for the City of New York practicing in the New York Corporation Counsel's Office's Real Property Tax and Condemnation Division. Since then, Mr. Lacap has exclusively represented corporate taxpayers in their property tax appeals prosecuting cases in the Supreme Court of the State of New York, Tax Court of New Jersey, Michigan Tax Tribunal, Minnesota Tax Court, and the Pennsylvania Court of Common Pleas. Mr. Lacap has proven to be successful tax appeal trial attorney with an in depth knowledge of appraisal valuation methodology attaining numerous tax appeal trial wins. He is also an effective appellate attorney successfully arguing property tax cases before the Appellate Division of the State of New York, and the New York Court of Appeals (New York's highest court) Mr. Lacap is a graduate of Manhattan College and a Dean's List ranking graduate of Pace University School of Law and a contributing author of the Journal of Property Tax Management. Mr. Lacap is a member of the New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania Bars, and prosecutes tax appeals in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Michigan and Minnesota.

Jerrold F. Janata

Jerrold F. Janata, Esq., has represented corporate taxpayers throughout the country for 50 years. He has litigated numerous complex and high profile cases during this time, and his personal efforts have resulted in many millions of dollars in tax savings for his clients. Formerly an appraiser and tax attorney for F.W. Woolworth Company, Mr. Janata earned a B.A. degree from Queens College of the City University of New York; an M.B.A. degree in finance from Iona College; and a J.D. Degree from Fordham University School of Law. Mr. Janata is a member of the American Society of Appraisers and a licensed appraiser in New Jersey and Tennessee. Mr. Janata has testified and been qualified as an expert appraiser on both Real Estate and Machinery and Equipment before a numerous State and Local Tax Appeal Boards, State Tax Commissions and Courts in the United States and Canada. Mr. Janata heads the New York and Pennsylvania Property Tax Appeal Practice. Mr. Janata's book, Property tax Manual: Strategies and Techniques for Reduction and Control was published by Prentice-Hall in 1979. He also wrote and edited three editions of Property Taxation and the first edition of Sales and Use Taxation, the textbooks of the Institute for Professionals in Taxation (IPT). He has written numerous articles on property taxation for several professional publications and is a member of the taxation editorial board of the Journal of Multistate Taxation and Incentives. Jerrold F. Janata, Esq., is a leading member of the Property Tax Bar, and is the author of, Property Tax Manual Strategies and Techniques for Reduction and Control, published by Prentice-Hall. He is also the editor of three editions of Property Taxation, and very first edition of Sales and Use Taxation, the textbooks used by the Institute for Professionals in Taxation (IPT), the only national association of professionals representing business interests in property taxation.
