ALPHA COMMUNITY CENTER

The Alpha Community Center is a 501C(3) non-profit organization serving the Sidney and Shelby County area since 1984. A group of members from the First United Methodist Church began an after school activities program along with Sunday afternoon Chapel. As the area of outreach grew, it was soon realized that the program needed to be a separate organization, with its own space to serve and grow. By becoming independent and incorporated in 1984, the Alpha Community Center was able to be a "home" mission for many local churches and provide improved services to families and individuals. In July 1992 after being in several rented buildings, the Alpha Center moved into its own building on East Court Street... Today the Alpha Community Center serves the community in four main ways; served meals, emergency pantry, children's/adult's programming and rent/utility assistance.
