Behnke Materials Engineering, LLC (BME) was first started in 2012 when Jay Behnke, PE (hometown -Green Bay and UW Madison graduate) wanted to recreate his successful Illinois based materials engineering firm, S.T.A.T.E. Testing, LLC, up in Wisconsin. S.T.A.T.E. Testing, LLC was started by Jay in 1999 and serves clients like the Illinois Tollway, City of Chicago, O'Hare Modernization Project, Illinois Department of Transportation and various Counties and Cities. Signe Reichelt, PE was hired at the end of 2012 to manage BME and later became the majority owner in 2016.
