Dr. Kayla Bishton

Dr. Kayla Bishton is a former student-athlete who graduated from Radford University in Virginia with her Bachelor of Science degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders. As a native of Indiana, she returned to her home state and received her Doctorate of Audiology (Au.D.) at Indiana University in 2020. She completed her Audiology Externship at the Tennessee Valley Healthcare System in Nashville and had the honor to work with our nation's Veterans. Dr. Bishton's areas of professional interest include comprehensive hearing evaluations, hearing aids (selection, fitting, programming and trouble-shooting), assistive listening devices (such as TV streamers, alerting systems and accessories), specialty ear molds (for swimming, hunting/shooting, and music) and tinnitus (evaluation, treatment, and management). She was inspired to become an Audiologist after witnessing a close family member struggle with hearing loss, and then seeing how proper treatment of hearing loss changed his life. Dr. Bishton possesses vast clinical knowledge and experience. She has a genuine passion for Audiology and for providing her patients with superior and compassionate hearing health care. As an Audiologist, her top priority is to provide exceptional service while building a strong rapport with her patients. Dr. Bishton is looking forward to serving you! In her free time, Dr. Bishton enjoys any activities involving the outdoors, attending sporting events, seeing live music, and spending time with her family and friends.

Janet Hiles Brett - President

Janet Hiles Brett is the President and Owner of Hanover Audiology. Established in 2012, Hanover Audiology is the only private audiology practice in Hanover County, Virginia, serving Mechanicsville and its surrounding communities. She is also a Senior Audiologist at VCU Health System (downtown location). Furthermore, Dr. Brett serves as a Proctor for the Commonwealth of Virginia for the Hearing Aid licensing board/Department of Professional and Occupational Regulations. Dr. Brett received her Bachelor of Science degree in Speech Pathology Education and her Master's degree in Communication Disorders, both from Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama. She completed her Graduate Audiology Externship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee, before going on to further her studies in graduate-level coursework in Gerontology at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. Dr. Brett also earned her Doctor of Audiology degree from A.T. Still University of the Arizona School of Health Services in Mesa. With a clear focus on providing professional and personalized hearing health care for patients of all age groups, Dr. Brett utilizes all of the skills obtained in her 32 years of experience in the field. Her specialties include comprehensive hearing rehabilitative services, including hearing aid assessment, tinnitus (ringing-in-the-ears) consultations, hearing evaluation, hearing conservation, and follow-up care. Before founding Hanover Audiology, she served as a Clinical and Dispensing Audiologist in various clinical settings: A trauma I Level hospital and a busy ENT practice, both in the greater Richmond area. Dr. Brett also has a unique insight and understanding of hearing loss and aids, as she had worked for over 7 years in the manufacturing side of the industry as a professional consultant, trainer, and account manager. Being able to offer and service THE widest and most comprehensive selection of brands and models of hearing aids to her patients is very important to Dr. Brett. She also participates with several networks and discount groups affiliated with various health insurance companies to ensure that patients will receive not only the best instrument option, and unparalleled service, but also at the best price. Active in the professional audiology community, Dr. Brett has taken part in various local, regional and national conferences, conventions and seminars. She has also contributed to several professional presentations and publications on audiological topics, including hearing loss, tinnitus, hyperacusis/misophonia, balance disorders, and recent technological advances in digital hearing aids. Dr. Brett currently holds membership in several professional organizations, including the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, Academy of Rehabilitative Auditory Society, Academy of Doctors of Audiology, Educational Audiology Association, and National Hearing Conservation Association. She is also a charter member of the American Academy of Audiology.

Lisa Henry

Lisa attended school at Virginia Commonwealth University and graduated with a B.S. in Mathematics with an emphasis in Statistics. Lisa has been with Hanover Audiology since 2015 and has handled all aspects of patient care: from welcoming new patients, registration, and providing ancillary assistance to the Audiologist and the Hearing Instrument Specialist. Her favorite part of the job is meeting new people and helping the providers of the practice by assisting with basic troubleshooting and maintenance of hearing aids. Lisa has received her Hearing Instrument Specialist- Apprentice license and is quickly learning how to fix or re-program hearing aids. She handles all the insurance claims and billing. And she fights hard to ensure patients' rights and their benefits from their insurance companies are followed through to the end. She also manages the day-to-day operations of the practice. Lisa loves seeing the smiles on our patient's faces when they can hear better and realize all the sounds they have been missing. Lisa enjoys tennis, dancing, bowling, and going to the beach with her family. Lisa loves to dance & enjoys listening to just about every genre of music. Lisa is happily married for 30+ years. She has gorgeous ragdoll cats, one son and a daughter-in-law, and three beautiful grandchildren!

Madeleine Hiles

Madeleine attends Virginia Commonwealth University and is expected to graduate in 2025. She is majoring in Marketing with a Concentration in Product & Brand Management. She also participates in various organizations at VCU (Women In Business, ASL Club, & the Business Mentoring Program). She joined Hanover Audiology at the beginning of 2019, and has been with us since! She handles all aspects of patient care: from appointment scheduling, welcoming new patients, hearing aid repair/service, and providing ancillary assistance to all of our staff. She is likely the first friendly face that will greet you on arrival! Madeleine is eager to answer any questions, lend a hand, or resolve any problems you may have. She is dedicated to providing exceptional customer care to all of our patients. Madeleine enjoys crafting, yoga, traveling - and of course, studying!
