Lashings are passed over the top in opposing pairs to create a locking effect, by forming horizontal bracing elements one acting to port and one acting to starboard... There are 3 types of loop lashing - Upright-Fixed, Hatchcover-Fixed and Deck-Fixed. Hog lashing is incorporated in the Upright-Fixed version but needs to be added to both the Hatchcover-Fixed and Deck-Fixed versions as a seperate operation (when uprights are fitted).
