WHITE HORSE COLLECTION - Key Persons

Richard Roney-Dougal is many things-an accomplished goldsmith, a painter, a printmaker, a sculptor-in other words, an artist. Although primarily designing and making jewelry for the last 50 years, he has never strayed too far from the canvas, the etching plate, or the page. His engravings show both his mastery of the form and his vivid imagination where a love of archaeology and astronomy took root long ago. He uses delicately etched lines to build densely detailed, fantastical images. Some of Richard's earliest work was done sketching back stage at the ballet with associates of his uncle Guy Sheppard who was the original designer for the Ballet Rambert, and who also worked with Diaghilev and the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo. Richard earned his MA in Art and Design at the Central School in London, apprenticed as a goldsmith in Amsterdam, and worked in Australia before settling in New Mexico in 1987, where he and his wife, Roz, set up their studio, Roney-Dougal Jewelry. In 2008 they moved to Paris, Kentucky and started White Horse Collection boutique, which focused on equestrian-themed accessories, gifts and art. They moved to Sharon, Connecticut in 2016. And in June 2017 opened a new White Horse Collection in Millerton, NY. November 2020 it is time to retire from the store. However, we still have the studio at home and Richard will be available to do custom work.
