Background: The cellar's signature variety, Chenin Blanc, is sourced from old vineyard blocks of bush-vines from the northern Paardeberg region where small yields are harvested in mid to late February from partially water-stressed vines. The shale and granite soils play an important role in imparting structure and minerality to this complex wine. These old vines are well adapted and fairly resistant to strong winds and hot conditions.
Tasting Notes: This is a typical fresh, crisp, fruity style of wine that is masterfully blended from Chenin Blanc grapes ripened in different climate conditions. Presenting layers of lime, citrus and fresh guava aromas. Pairs well with shellfish, spicy dishes, lean fish and mild and soft cheese.

Robert Parker Wine Advocate - Luis Gutiérrez (14/07/2022) - 93+ Parker Points: Vintage 2021: "I tasted the very recently bottled 2021 Flor de Muga Rosado, from a cooler year that resulted in a wine with 13.8% alcohol and notable freshness and acidity. The wine fermented in oak vats where it matured for four months with the fine lees that were stirred. It was a cool and rainy vintage with some challenges with oidium and mildew but very good for fresh wines. This is very pale and subtle but with good ripeness in the late-ripening zone where these grapes come from. It's fresh and light to medium-bodied, with clean aromas and flavours. It's elegant and subtle, terribly harmonious with complexity and depth. Possibly the finest vintage to date. Delicious! 35,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in May 2022."

Winemaking process: The special bouquet of Sauvignon Blanc harvested at its maturity, and its great intensity, were the starting point for this wine. It was made using selected yeasts and low temperature fermentation. A prolonged period on its finest lees gives it roundness and smoothness.
Background: Produced from the finest locally grown Sauvignon Blanc grapes that are painstakingly chosen for superior quality, the El Tidon Sauvignon Blanc is a true labour of love. The grapes undergo a traditional process of fermentation at low temperatures in top grade vats to extract the grape flavour.
Tasting notes: This Sauvignon Blanc smacks of rich passion fruit and other tropical flavours which are well balanced by a fresh grassy edge and summer freshness is provided by a crisp acidity. The Flutterby range has recently been added to SAA's prestigious in-flight wine list.
