Debra Anderson

Debra Anderson has served students in the Training and Mentoring curriculum since 2013. She earned her BA in creative writing from California State University, Long Beach (1994) where she minored in religious studies. She earned her MA in Christian education from Gateway Seminary (2001) while serving part-time as Minister of Maturity in her local church. She has discipled and challenged the people of God in a variety of settings: campus ministry, church-based adult education, homeschool cohorts, church planting, conference workshops, guest preaching and higher education. Currently, Professor Anderson draws from her thirty years of ministry experience both in and outside the church to equip seminary students to understand and intentionally pursue character formation and professional skill development. She offers expertise in adult learning, focusing her research on how the practice of reflection helps us to learn, change, and build a new story. Debra also provides clients with theological research, sermon series coaching, and long-form content editing and ghostwriting. She is published under her own name in the Clio's Psyche Journal and Denver Seminary's Engage Magazine. Debra's husband is a local pastor and they enjoy life with their three teen/young adult sons. She enjoys a good podcast, summer road trips, hiking, and the symphony.

Dr. Craig Blomberg

Dr. Craig Blomberg joined the faculty of Denver Seminary in 1986. He is Denver Seminary's Professor Emeritus of New Testament. Dr. Blomberg completed his PhD in New Testament, specializing in the parables and the writings of Luke-Acts, at Aberdeen University in Scotland. He received an MA from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, and a BA from Augustana College. Before joining the faculty of Denver Seminary, he taught at Palm Beach Atlantic College and was a research fellow in Cambridge, England with Tyndale House. In addition to writing numerous articles in professional journals, multi-author works and dictionaries or encyclopedias, he has authored or edited over 30 books, including The Historical Reliability of the Gospels, Interpreting the Parables, commentaries on Matthew, 1 Corinthians and James, Jesus and the Gospels: An Introduction and Survey, From Pentecost to Patmos: An Introduction to Acts through Revelation, Christians in an Age of Wealth: A Biblical Theology of Stewardship, Neither Poverty nor Riches: A Biblical Theology of Possessions, Making Sense of the New Testament: Three Crucial Questions, Preaching the Parables, Contagious Holiness: Jesus' Meals with Sinners, and Handbook of New Testament Exegesis.

Dr. Howard Baker

Dr. Howard Baker, Denver Seminary's Professor Emeritus of Christian Formation, joined the faculty of Denver Seminary in 2006 after serving as an adjunct faculty member since 1995. Together with Dr. Bruce Demarest in 1999, he began the Seminary's certificate program in evangelical spiritual guidance. In addition, he has served as a board member for Spiritual Formation Alliance and Young Life Africa, offers spiritual direction, and leads retreats. Currently, he is the board chair for The Abbey Colorado and on the faculty of the Soul Care Institute. He earned a BA from Texas Christian University, a ThM from Dallas Theological Seminary, a Certificate in Spiritual Direction from St. Thomas Seminary, and a Doctor of Ministry in Spiritual Direction from Fuller Seminary. He is a member of the Society for the Study of Christian Spirituality, the Evangelical Theological Society, Spiritual Directors International, and the Evangelical Spiritual Directors Association. Prior to coming to Denver Seminary, Dr. Baker served Young Life, a mission to adolescents, as an area and regional director; was a chaplain at the Denver Rescue Mission; co-taught the Vincentian Formation Program for spiritual directors; and was adjunct faculty at Fuller Seminary. He has taught as a visiting faculty member at St. Meinard Seminary, Summit Bible College, Colorado Christian University, and Evangelical Theological College in Ethiopia. He has authored Soul Keeping and The One True Thing; contributed to The Holy Spirit: An Unfinished Agenda, The Transformation of a Man's Heart, Giving Ourselves to Prayer, The Renovaré Spiritual Formation Bible; and was consulting editor for Between Heaven and Earth: Prayers and Reflections that Celebrate an Intimate God. He has written articles for Christianity Today, Discipleship Journal, Journal of Spiritual Formation and Soul Care, Kindred Spirit, and was an editor for Conversations Journal.

Dr. Mike Anderson

Rev. Dr. Mike Anderson, adjunct faculty in Counseling, has served Christ as a pastor for over thirty years, particularly in the areas of youth, family, marriage, spiritual formation, counseling, and pastoral care. He is now in a "pastor-at-large," which includes marriage and family counseling as a licensed therapist, ministering to graduate students and faculty at Colorado State University, and serving as a chaplain to the EPC and local pastors. Dr. Anderson holds an MDiv from Bethel Seminary and a DMin from Denver Seminary. He and his wife Kim have three children and five grandchildren.

Eva Bleeker

Chaplain Doctor Eva Bleeker, chair of Chaplaincy and Pastoral Counseling Programs and assistant professor of Chaplaincy and Pastoral Care, is a Board Certified Chaplain with the Association of Professional Chaplains who believes in the transformational power of education. She moved to Colorado in 2019 with two goals: to teach at Denver Seminary and to enroll in the CEC process at the Denver Seminary CPE Programs. Dr. Bleeker joined Denver Seminary as a teaching Fellow in the Counseling Division, teaching pastoral care and counseling courses. Dr. Bleeker graduated with a Doctor of Education from Baylor University and holds two Master of Arts degrees through Dallas Theological Seminary, one in education and one in media and communications. During seminary, she worked as assistant to the Chaplain, supporting the spiritual needs of the students, staff, and faculty. After graduating from seminary, Dr. Bleeker completed a four-unit residency in Clinical Pastoral Education through Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas (BUMC). She then remained on the chaplaincy staff at BUMC for five years while also serving as the first female member of the pastoral staff at her church. This independent faith community, Skillman Bible Church, commissioned her to chaplaincy and became and APC endorsing body on her behalf. Dr. Bleeker moved to Northern Virginia in 2014 where she had three professional focuses: she provided spiritual care at a community hospital, she worked on the ministry staff of a United Methodist church, and she traveled weekly to New York City where she completed Columbia University's Master of Science in narrative medicine. Having been transformed by her own CPE journey and with a desire to facilitate meaningful growth for others, Dr. Bleeker began the application process for ACPE Certified Educator Candidate training in January 2020 through the Denver Seminary CPE Programs.

James R. Beck

Dr. James Beck joined the faculty of Denver Seminary in 1984 in the Counseling department. He is professor emeritus of counseling and a licensed clinical psychologist. He earned a PhD from Rosemead Graduate School of Psychology, an EdM from Oregon State University, a ThM from Dallas Theological Seminary, and a BA from Westmont College. Dr. Beck is an ordained minister whose special interests include mental health on the mission field and the particular needs of missionary children. He served on the national board of Christians for Biblical Equality and served as associate pastor for Christian education at the First Baptist Church of Corvallis, Oregon. He was also the senior partner at Valley Psychological Center in Sacramento, California, staffed by several Christian psychologists and mental health professionals. Dr. Beck is a contributing editor to the Journal of Psychology and Theology. He has written Dorothy Carey: The Tragic and Untold Story of Mrs. William Carey, The Healing Words of Jesus, Helping Worriers, Why Worry?, Jesus and Personality Theory, and The Psychology of Paul.

Sung Wook Chung

Dr. Sung Wook Chung joined the faculty of Denver Seminary in 2005 and serves as Professor of Christian Theology, Director of the Asian Initiative, and Chair of Korean Studies Program. He is a member of the American Academy of Religion, Evangelical Theological Society, Calvin Studies Society, Society of Biblical Literature, and the Karl Barth Society of North America. He served Kurios International, a global missional organization as founder and president from 2012 to 2019. He currently serves C-Connection, a global missional organization as founding chair of the board, Marked Men for Christ as a member of its global board, JD Kim Ministries as a member of the board and Korean American Scholarship Foundation's Mountain States Regional Chapter as founding president and a board member. Dr. Chung earned a DPhil from the University of Oxford and an MDiv from Harvard University. He also earned a BA from Keimyung University in Daegu, South Korea, and Whitworth University, Spokane, WA, USA. Dr. Chung served in the Bible and religion department at King University, Bristol, TN from 2000-2005. While working as a professor of theology, he also served the Tri-City Korean Church as pastor. He has published numerous articles and books, both in English and Korean.
