Mr. Fred O. Mullen

FRED MULLEN is passionate about teaching music to the core of our being! He is excited to be with his super Surfside Sharks. Mr. Mullen holds two Bachelor of Arts degrees from Huntingdon College and will resume a masters in Educational Leadership from Florida State University soon. He is delighted to serve as a choral director at Surfside since the fall of 2007. His performance as a director indicates highly effective teacher evaluations and includes the distinct honor of Surfside Teacher of the Year for 2011. Before working at Surfside, he taught elementary music, grades kindergarten to fifth grade at Tyndall Elementary (fall 2004 until fall of 2007) and Oscar Patterson Magnet School (fall 2000 until fall 2004). His first teaching experience was at his alma mater, A. Crawford Mosley High School (fall 1998 until fall 2000) as an adjunct instructor of mathematics. His additional professional experiences include Huntingdon College, Montgomery, Alabama as assistant director of residential life, head resident director of Searcy and Blount Halls, Housing Coordinator. He also served as the church pianist for Capital Heights Baptist Church, Christ Community Church, and was custodian of Christ The Redeemer Episcopal in Montgomery. He is currently, serving as pianist for Living Word Church since 1998. Mr. Mullen has educational and instructional experiences spanning from pre-school through college in both educational and sacred settings.
