Through the Morrill Act of 1862, the state of Ohio received grants in the form of federal lands. The state used the proceeds from selling those federal lands to establish a public institution, fulfilling the act's provisions and eventually becoming Ohio State University. Our staff works with officials at the local, state, and federal level to advocate for legislation related to higher education, strong support for university research, and maintain strong relationships with our government partners.
