Alex Carroll

Alex is one of our friendly faces that will great you at Nunyara House. She has been our Office Manager since September 2020. Alex joined Nunyara House in June 2011 and has worked in medical administration since 2002. When Alex is not at work she is busy with her family of two children, husband and dogs. In her spare time you can find her at Yoga, lunching with friends or planning her next holiday adventure.

Dr Jem Ninan

Job Titles:
  • FRACP Consultant Rheumatologist
Dr Jem Ninan is dual trained in Rheumatology and General Medicine. He was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Physicians in 2010. Jem trained at the Repatriation General, Royal Adelaide and Queen Elizabeth Hospitals in South Australia. He is a member of the Australian Rheumatology Association. His research interests are in the areas of early inflammatory arthritis and large vessel vasculitis. He also has interests in musculoskeletal ultrasound and polarized microscopy.

Dr Liesl Altus

Job Titles:
  • Fellow of the Australasian College of Physicians
Dr Liesl Altus is a Fellow Of the Australasian College of Physicians. She graduated from the University of Adelaide in 2007 and completed dual fellowships in Endocrinology and General and Acute Care Medicine in 2019. She undertook her specialist training at Lyell McEwin, Modbury and Royal Adelaide Hospitals and has a particular interest in diabetes, including management of diabetes in pregnancy, and functional thyroid disorders. Dr Altus commenced consultation at Nunyara House in February 2020 and will also be completing a fellowship year in Neuroendocrine Tumour nuclear medicine at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital during 2020. Dr Altus is married with 3 young children and has lived in the Gawler area since 2006. She and her family are active members of the Gawler Lutheran Church.

Dr Nitesh Rao

Dr Nitesh Rao is a Consultant Nephrologist. He was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of physicians (FRACP) in 2013. Nitesh undertook his basic physician at the Lyell McEwin Hospital followed by advanced training in Nephrology at the Royal Adelaide Hospital and Flinders Medical Centre. Nitesh has been working as a staff specialist at the Lyell McEwin hospital and Flinders Medical Centre. He is affiliated with the Central Northern Adelaide Renal and Transplantation Service based at the Royal Adelaide Hospital and also conducts clinics at the Northern Cardiology Specialists Suites (Calvary Central Districts Hospital) and Riverland General Hospi tal, Berri. Nitesh enjoys teaching both medical students and doctors in training. He is a Clinical Senior Lecturer in the department of medicine at the University of Adelaide. He continues to be actively involved in research and is currently completing a Masters in Medicine with the University of Adelaide. He has publications in peer-reviewed international journals. Nitesh is a general nephrologist and has clinical expertise in chronic kidney disease & diabetic nephropathy, management of renal anaemia and bone disease, hypertension, haemodialysis & peritoneal dialysis, and kidney transplantation.

Dr Parind Vora

Dr Parind Vora is a Fellow of Royal the Australasian College of Physicians. He has completed dual Fellowships in Endocrinology and General and Acute Care Medicine. He undertook his Specialist training at the Royal Adelaide, Hobart and North Shore hospitals; Flinders Medical Centre and Repatriation General Hospital. Dr Vora has special interest in Diabetes, Thyroid diseases and Osteoporosis. Dr Vora started consulting at Nunyara House in March 2013. Dr Vora holds a Staff Specialist position as an Endocrinologist and General Physician at the Lyell McEwin Hospital (North Adelaide Local Health Network). Dr Vora has also completed higher studies and holds a Masters degree in Public Health from the University of Western Sydney and has a great interest in epidemiology and preventive medicine. He enjoys golf, badminton and has a keen interest in current world affairs.

Dr Wilson Vallat

Job Titles:
  • Specialist in Neurology
Dr Vallat is a Specialist in Neurology, Internal Medicine and Nuclear Medicine. Post-graduation from medical school he trained in the United Kingdom and moved to Australia in 2006. He has worked in all of Adelaide's major Metropolitan centres. Dr Vallat started consulting at Nunyara House in August 2013 before taking a break in 2016 and 2017 to undertake further specialty training in Neurology. He now holds a staff specialist position as a Neurologist in the Division of Medicine, North Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN). He also works at the Royal Adelaide hospital as a Nuclear Physician. He has returned to Nunyara House in April 2018 as a general Neurologist. Dr Vallat is accepting new Neurology referrals for conditions such as Stroke, Parkinsonism & other Neurodegenerative disorders, Epilepsy, Neuroimmunological disorders and Neuropathies.

Dr. Anthony Zimmermann

Doctor Zimmermann graduated from Adelaide University ranked 4th on the Dean's Order of Merit list in 1995. He completed Specialist Medical Training in Internal Medicine with an emphasis on Diabetes and Clinical Endocrinology at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Lyell McEwin Hospital, Repatriation General Hospital and Flinders Medical Centre in Adelaide. He has specialist skills in Diabetes including continuous glucose monitoring and insulin pump management; Endocrinology assessment and management; and Cardiovascular risk assessment and management. Doctor Zimmermann has been working as a senior staff Specialist at the Lyell McEwin Hospital, Elizabeth Vale, Adelaide since 2003. He has been the Head of Diabetes and Endocrine Services, Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN) since 2013. His unit was awarded a SA Health Award in 2017 for Enhancing Hospital Care for his project titled, "Moving Diabetes Outpatient Care into the 21st Century" and again in 2018 for Excellence and Innovation in Aboriginal Health for a project titled "Integrating Care - Closing the Gap on Diabetes". He is a Senior Clinical Lecturer in the Department of Medicine at the University of Adelaide. He is an enthusiastic mentor for undergraduate and postgraduate medical trainees and has earned citations for excellence in clinical teaching, School of Medicine, University of Adelaide in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013. He is a Principal Investigator for the Australasian Diabetes Data Network (ADDN3). He was the Convenor for the successful Endocrine Society of Australia (ESA) scientific Clinical Weekend held in Adelaide, South Australia in August 2018. Doctor Zimmermann is married and is the father of three children. He is an enthusiastic cyclist and Life Member of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) cycling club. Other interests include good food and wine, reading, photography and travel.

Dr. Chi Kang Gooi

Job Titles:
  • Orthopaedic Surgeon
Dr Gooi specialises in disorders of the foot and ankle, hip and knee arthroplasty and general orthopaedic trauma. He graduated from the University of Adelaide and completed his orthopaedic surgery training in Adelaide. Following completion of orthopaedic training in Adelaide, Dr Gooi took up a Fellowship in Foot and Ankle Surgery in Bristol, UK. He worked with several foot and ankle surgeons including Dr Ian Winson who was the president of the European Foot and Ankle Society. Following this, Dr Gooi went to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge and completed a Fellowship in Hip and Knee Arthroscopy and Arthroplasty. Dr Gooi returned to Adelaide and commenced working as an orthopaedic surgeon in 2009. Dr Gooi is a Senior Visiting Orthopaedic Specialist at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. He is a consultant at the Complex Foot and Ankle Clinic. Dr Gooi is married with two children. In his spare time, he enjoys bike riding and watching Aussie rules football.

Rajvinder (Raj) Singh

Rajvinder (Raj) Singh is a Professor of Medicine with the University of Adelaide and the Director of Gastroenterology at the Lyell McEwin & Modbury Hospitals, South Australia. He practices privately at Nunyara House, 43 Adelaide Road, Gawler South and performs procedures privately both at the Gawler Health Service and the Calvary Central Districts Hospital.
