Dr. Carmen Colon

Dr. Colon was born in St. Petersburg, FL and was raised in Orlando. Ever since she was a little girl, she knew she wanted to be a veterinarian. She graduated with a bachelor's in science from the University of Central Florida. She then went on to complete her Doctorate degree at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine and spent her clinical year at the University of Florida. She also completed an externship at the SPCA in Titusville, where she found her passion for small animal surgery. After graduating in 2021, she then went to Brevard Humane Society where she volunteered her time doing surgeries for owned and shelter animals. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family, going to the beach, and making meals at home.

Dr. Kristen Lewandowski

In 2005 Dr. Lewandowski graduated with Honors from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst with a bachelor's degree in Pre-Veterinary/ Animal Sciences. She then spent three years traveling throughout the United States while completing various internships. Dr. Lewandowski's experiences ranged from conducting field research and wildlife rehabilitation to working with black rhinos at a conservation center. Dr. Lewandowski finally realized her dream of becoming a veterinarian and graduated from the University of Florida, College of Veterinary Medicine in 2012. During her off time, Dr. Lewandowski & her husband enjoy traveling, stand-up paddleboarding, snorkeling, and SCUBA diving. She also enjoys taking yoga and dance classes.

Dr. Rik Patel

Dr. Rik was born and raised in Orlando, FL, and has enjoyed working with animals his whole life. While completing his Bachelor's degree in Biology at the University of Central Florida, he started working at Waterford Lakes Animal Hospital as a technician. It was during this time that Dr. Rik realized how much he enjoyed working in the veterinary field. In 2016, Dr. Rik started veterinary school at Ross University, a school located on the island of St. Kitts in the Caribbean. He continued his clinical veterinary education at the University of Missouri where he developed a passion for small animal surgery, oncology, and dentistry. After graduating from veterinary school in 2020, Dr. Rik spent some time in Mount Dora before coming back to Orlando and joining Waterford Lakes Animal Hospital once again! He is excited to be back in Orlando and working with his old coworkers and friends. In his spare time, he enjoys fishing, going to the gym, hiking, and spending time with his family. He has two dogs, a Siberian Husky named Blizzard (pictured) and a Coconut Retriever named Robin who he rescued while in St. Kitts. He also adopted two cats, Harvey and Tom.
