HUMANITARIAN OUTCOMES - Key Persons
Abby Stoddard, PhD, is a researcher and author with over 20 years' experience working in the international humanitarian sector. At Humanitarian Outcomes she has designed and led independent research programmes and created unique data assets, including the Aid Worker Security Database and the Global Database of Humanitarian Organisations. Her latest book is Necessary Risks: Professional Humanitarianism and Violence Against Aid Workers (Palgrave Macmillan, 2020).
Beginning her career as a humanitarian aid practitioner, Abby Stoddard worked in headquarters and field positions at CARE USA and later served as Program Director for Doctors of the World (Médecins du Monde-USA). Prior to founding Humanitarian Outcomes, she coordinated research on humanitarian action at New York University's Center on International Cooperation. Her areas of expertise include humanitarian operational security and risk management, financing, coordination, and institutional reform. She is the author of Humanitarian Alert: NGO Information and its Impact on US Foreign Policy (Kumarian Press, 2006) and Necessary Risks: Professional Humanitarianism and Violence Against Aid Workers (Palgrave Macmillan, 2020), along with many articles, reports, and book chapters on humanitarian action.
Adelicia Fairbanks, MSc and PhD candidate, has worked in several international non-governmental organisations and research institutions over the last ten years, supporting their humanitarian, human rights, and development work in contexts such as Honduras, El Salvador, Colombia, Iraq, Yemen, South Sudan, and CAR. Prior to Humanitarian Outcomes, Adelicia was Research Advisor at the European Interagency Security Forum (now GISF).
Corinna Kreidler, MA Political Science and International Relations, has been working in humanitarian aid for more than 20 years. She is currently a freelance consultant, working on humanitarian strategy development, financing matters, policy and operational topics. She is working for a variety of clients including donors, NGOs and Governmental organisations. Corinna also undertakes evaluations and supports donors in monitoring ongoing operations.
From 2012 to 2014, Corinna worked for NRC as the Deputy Director of Programmes. Before joining NRC, she worked for ECHO in different countries (Liberia, Sudan/Darfur and DRC) and she gained long-term NGO field experience with Welthungerhilfe in Liberia, Angola and Burundi.
Corinna has most experience in food assistance/food security (incl. cash-based interventions) and nutrition. She has also been a trainer for many years, training NGO and donor staff on project planning and design, on monitoring and evaluation as well as the on the "do no harm"-approach.
Eta Pastreich, BA in Anthropology and History, is supporting work on the Global Database of Humanitarian Organisations (GDHO) and the Aid Worker Security Database (AWSD), among other projects. Prior to this, she served as a research assistant on an archeological excavation in the Sonora Desert of Mexico, analysing pre-Columbian pottery and managing a 100,000-unit organisational database. She graduated magna cum laude from Binghamton University in 2020 with the highest honors in anthropology, winning the Richard Antoun Faculty Award for Excellence in Anthropology.
Glyn Taylor, MA, has worked in a variety of headquarters and field positions, covering both aid policy and practice. Before joining Humanitarian Outcomes he worked as a deputy director and head of the advisory group for the UK Department for International Development's Humanitarian Operations Team. This was a key role within the DFID drive to reform the humanitarian system, with a particular emphasis on financing mechanisms and UK support to OCHA and the CERF. He acted as the DFID humanitarian advisor for Darfur through 2005 and 2006. In previous years Glyn has worked extensively through the UK Government's emergency roster, including: surge support for UN OCHA in 2004, heading the setup of the OCHA office in North Darfur in 2004; the setup of the DFID office in Afghanistan in late 2001 and field evaluations on behalf of DFID in Southern Africa and Liberia. Prior to this, he worked as country programme manager for Merlin in Sierra Leone and Afghanistan.
Meriah-Jo Breckenridge, MSc, worked at the Canadian Federal Court and Federal Court of Appeal in the areas of immigration appeals and aboriginal law, dealing with large databases, handling sensitive political matters, and acting as the intermediary between parties and the judiciary. Since transitioning to humanitarian research from the government sector, her contributions include conflict early warning risk reports and organizational case studies on context analysis. She holds a Master of Science in International Development and Humanitarian Emergencies from the London School of Economics and Political Science and a Certificate in Data Science.
Monica Czwarno, MRes, worked for the American Red Cross in Greater New York as the Regional Manager in charge of capacity building and establishing innovative program initiatives in humanitarian relief to ensure disaster preparedness. Prior to that she also worked and interned with the International Rescue Committee, Exclusive Analysis and the Center for Defense Information. She holds a Master of Research in War Studies from King's College, London, and a Master of Intelligence and International Relations from the University of Salford.
Paul Harvey has worked in humanitarian action for over 20 years as an aid worker, researcher and consultant. Before starting Humanitarian Outcomes he was a Research Fellow with the Humanitarian Policy Group in the Overseas Development Institute and an emergency manager for NGOs including work in Somalia, Sierra Leone and Kosovo. His work has focussed on cash programming, the role of states, corruption and dependency in humanitarian action. He recently directed the SLRC research programme on service delivery and statebuilding.

Shoaib Jillani, Ph.D., is a researcher and data scientist based in New York City. His research focuses on the political impact of fiscal shocks at the state and local level in the United States. He has extensive experience working for political campaigns and consulting for organizations in the humanitarian sector. Prior to Humanitarian Outcomes, he consulted for UNICEF, where he helped prepare a global evaluation of the organisation's Child Protection in Emergencies Programme.
Tichakunda Mangono, MSc Analytics, is a data scientist, strategist, and adviser with experience executing data-driven solutions and tools, using multiple programming languages to drive efficiency and value for global development programs. He consults with and advises Humanitarian Outcomes on an ad hoc basis, and has contributed data science solutions and software tools for projects including the Aid Worker Security Database, the Global Database of Humanitarian Organisations, and other data-driven research initiatives. Tich is passionate about solving high-impact problems for non-profit organizations' country and global strategies. In addition to using data to persuade policymakers, Tich has also managed several multi-million, multi-year regional grants for public health programs - specifically HIV and TB in Southern Africa and Southern Asia.
