Adam Griggs - Managing Director

Job Titles:

Adam joined SMG Architects in 2007 having previously worked for a large East Anglian contractor on many large Design and Build projects with Tesco and Waitrose. Adam qualified as a Chartered Architect in 2010 and became Managing Director of SMG in 2021. Adam has worked on many of the larger projects ranging from bespoke housing, new build churches and pub refurbishments. Fun Fact: A keen marathon runner, Adam has run marathons from Loch Ness to Brighton but has been unable to secure a place in the London ballot, despite 15 attempts.

Claire Wyett

Job Titles:
  • Secretary
Claire joined SMG in the summer of 2021, initially to cover the holiday periods but quickly moved to job share on reception for 2 days a week. Claire recently became the Office Manager and PA to Ian & Adam and now works 5 days a week. During her short time working for SMG, Claire has also taken on responsibility for Health and Safety as well as Human Resources. Claire loves being part of the SMG Team and is looking forward to seeing the company continue to grow. Fun fact: Claire's dream holiday destination is Australia / New Zealand, but she doesn't like flying or sailing.

David Wiley

Job Titles:
  • Architectural Assistant
During his time at Norwich University of the Arts, David achieved first class grades in his design work and was awarded the Feilden+Mawson Scholarship for Architecture 2017/2018. Shortly after graduating from university in 2018, David joined SMG and has been working on several residential properties ranging from extensions and alterations through to assisting on bespoke one-off dwellings. More recently David has taken a keen interest in commercial projects. Fun Fact: David has 42 house plants and counting…

Harry Revell

Job Titles:
  • Trainee Architectural Assistant
Harry joined SMG in 2022 as a Trainee Architectural Assistant, providing support to the whole team. Harry has become very adept at ArchiCAD and developing 3D images for his clients. Harry is due to start his journey on becoming a qualified Architect later this year.

Ian Mutton - Chairman

Local to Sheringham, Ian joined SMG in January 2000, having studied at Greenwich University PT and working in London for 12 years. Ian qualified as an Architect in London working on a wide range of buildings nationwide. He eventually escaped the smoke to work in Kings Lynn as Carters lead Architect for two years, before joining David Stead Architects in 2000. His remit was to expand the practice and take over David's mantle. Over the years the practice has grown significantly in size and influence in all areas of architecture. Ian comes from a strong technical and design background and provides guidance and leadership to his colleagues. Ian has now led the practice for 23 years and has placed Adam Griggs, a friend and colleague from the Carters days, to continue expanding the good name and reputation of SMG as Ian takes on the role of Chairman. Fun Fact: Ian's dream job as a kid was to be a carpenter but after working as a draughtsman from school, found that he enjoyed the construction of buildings a more interesting challenge.

Jonas Rossi

Jonas joined SMG in 2015 as a trainee technician having qualified as an Architect in Brazil. Since joining, Jonas has taken responsibility for a range of project sizes from small extensions to master planning. During the first five years working for SMG, Jonas completed a MSc course in Sustainable Architectural Design and registered as an Architect in Portugal and in the UK. Conservation is one of Jonas' passions and is on his way to becoming an AABC registered architect. Fun Fact: When Jonas is not working or studying architecture, he is being a superhero daddy. (According to his children).

Mirta Frith

Following her time working for an architect in London, Mirta joined SMG in 2018. Mirta has a passion for innovative architectural design, utilising different materials to create both contemporary and traditional styles throughout a range of projects from renovations to new build dwellings. Mirta qualified as an architect in 2019 and now a chartered member of the RIBA. Fun Fact: When working in London Mirta can boast the ‘coolest' project, having previously worked on the Shard.

Steven joined SMG architects, following his time at Fitch Butterfield Associates, bringing 25 years' experience in the industry. Steven has worked with many local clients in the St Neots area including the local museum, residential projects of all scales, and currently a town centre scheme bringing a diverse mix of residential and commercial uses together. Fun Fact: Steven was TIME Person of the Year in 2006
