HOME SCHOOL

What started off as a productive way to spend a Sunday afternoon grew into a whole bunch of classes. A few local "teachers" joined the group, mostly wanting to set positive examples in neighborhoods similar to the ones they grew up in. Though Kaid moved away from Manila in 2012, he continues to teach Homeschool workshops whenever he travels. Once in a while, we bring him back to the Philippines for a couple of classes. All of this has been done with private donations, Kaid's savings, OCD micro-grants and partners like BAFI or BBDO Guerrero... Homeschool started out in January 2011 as a series of art workshops for street children. Classes revolve around simple art themes. The idea is for the kids to find creative avenues for self-expression, productivity and self-realization. Through the help of super cool volunteers, like Jojo Guballa, we have expanded the courses to include basic reading, writing, science and math. Plus breakdancing, which the kids really like...
