In January of 2007, Frank Blake was appointed as Home Depots chief executive officer (CEO). He became CEO after the previous CEO was forced to resign. Prior to having the privilege of being appointed as CEO, he was a vice chairman on the board of directors and an executive vice president of the company since 2002. He began his career at Home Depot specializing in business development and corporate operations. He was responsible for real estate, store construction, growth initiatives, and developing strategic business. Prior to his career at Home Depot, Blake experienced a variety of executive roles at other well known companies such as General Electric. His past employment, his bachelor's degree from Harvard University, and his five years at Home Depot have given him the knowledge and experience necessary to become an effective CEO.
