Starting in 2000, Pandora began with an idea known as the Music Genome Project (Directed by Tim Westergren). The Music Genome Project represents a database of 900,000 songs that are analyzed by trained analyst to distinct 450 musical characteristics in each song. It wasn't until 2005 that the actual website was launched, and is now among the top 20 stations and networks in the United States. Pandora offers two different services and allows users to create up to 100 stations of their liking.
