Amanda has over 20 years of experience working in Professional Experience, contributing to research in this area and was previously Deputy Director of Professional Experience for the Faculty of Education. She has established productive relationships with colleagues in the school and university contexts.
Amanda Scott manages projects that link industry with world class research and is an expert in collaboration, currently undertaking a PhD in Collaborative Networks through SCU. Her work on the Farming Together Program was instrumental to the successful establishment of over 69 farming cooperatives in Australia.
Amanda grew up helping on an uncle's sheep farm south of Sydney. This led her to study agriculture through high school and university and work on a number of farms across NSW. With a passion for education, she completed an honours degree in primary education specialising in science and became a mathematics teacher before returning to academia in 2016.

Distinguished Professor Anne Graham AO is Founding Director, Centre for Children and Young People. Anne's research interests focus primarily on children and young people's wellbeing, safety and participation, as well as ethical issues in researching and working with children in different contexts. She has led over 70 research projects, including 8 ARC funded studies. Under Anne's leadership the CCYP has built the reputation of SCU in providing quality, high impact research involving children.
Under Anne's leadership the CCYP has built the reputation of Southern Cross University as a key player regionally, nationally and internationally in providing high quality, high impact interdisciplinary research aimed at improving policy and practice in key areas of children and young people's lives. Over the past 12 years Anne has led over 70 research projects, including 6 ARC Linkage grants and 2 ARC Discovery grants, focused primarily on children's rights and wellbeing in different contexts (schools, family law processes, juvenile justice, disability services), as well as ethical issues in research involving children, and teacher (and other professionals') learning.
This program of research has attracted well over $10 million in funding to date. To help ensure relevance and strong industry engagement, Anne's research has been undertaken collaboratively with state and Commonwealth government departments, as well as key statutory bodies, major national and international NGOs, and many other community based organisations. Anne has published extensively in scholarly journals and books, and provides a substantial number of presentations, seminars and collaboratively run workshops to help ensure partner organisations benefit from research undertaken with the Centre. Anne's research has also resulted in her authorship of a highly successful psycho-social education program, Seasons for Growth, which provides children, young people and parents with knowledge and skills to adapt to significant change in family life following death, separation, divorce and other loss experiences. Over 350,000 children and young people in 5 countries have now participated in the program.
Research Interests: children and young people's rights, social and emotional wellbeing and safety within different family, school and community contexts; children and young people's experiences of loss and grief; participation at school; participation in family law processes; relationships; ethical issues in researching with children & young people; teacher learning; ethical practice in working with children; interdisciplinary understandings of childhood; effective knowledge translation.

Professor Knight has completed a great deal of study in teaching and learning, undertaking high impact applied research that leads to sustainable benefits for all students. He is a specialist in learning design and pedagogy to enhance participant outcomes across all forms of education and mental health. Professor Knight has successfully supervised 27 doctoral candidates and his areas of research have resulted in more than 200 peer-reviewed publications.
Bruce Maynard is a farmer and grazier from the Central West of NSW. He has been at the forefront of a number of innovations in Australian agriculture including grazing management, ‘stress free stockmanship', ‘self herding' and the use of forage shrubs in grazing landscapes.
Most notably, he developed the regenerative agricultural method: ‘no kill cropping'. While running the farm with his family, Bruce currently conducts extension projects around Australia on ‘no kill cropping', ‘self herding' and grazing management.

Darshana Sedera is a Professor of Information Systems and the Director of the Digital Enterprise Lab at the Southern Cross University in Australia. He has published over 300 articles in major refereed journals and conferences on the broader topic of digital business transformation. His publications have appeared in journals such as JAIS, JSIS, I&M, IT&P, and CAIS. He has also served as the CI in several Australian Research Council Grants.
David Ellis is an Adjunct Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Education at Southern Cross University. He is currently progressing his PhD study on teacher professional learning and expertise in a changing world. This study is crucial for the recognition of teacher education as foundational and teacher capability for lifelong learning is required. David Heilpern was a Magistrate and judicial trainer from 1998 to 2020. Prior to this appointment, David was a litigation lawyer on the North Coast where he co-founded the law school at SCU in 1992, David graduated with a Masters in Law from SCU and was the Alumni of the Decade in 2005. In August 2022 was appointed as a Dean and Chair of Discipline (Law) at SCU. David is passionate about legal education, seeking to ensure that students are stimulated, excited and fulfilled.
David Rousell is an Adjunct Senior Lecturer at SCU, where he completed his PhD under the supervision of Professor Amy Cutter-Mackenzie-Knowles and Professor Alexandra Lasczik. David is also Senior Lecturer in Creative Education at RMIT, where he works in the Creative Agency Lab and Digital Ethnography Research Centre (DERC). His project Local Alternatives explores the pedagogical agency of the environmental arts in adapting to climate change at city-scale.
Professor Spendlove's work has involved policy, practice and research in a variety of areas including Teaching and Learning, Teacher Education, Technology Education and Creative and Design Education. David is Professor of Education and Director of Teaching and Learning in the School of Environment, Education and Development in addition to being the Senior Adviser for the Moscow School of Social and Economic Sciences. Dr Anne Bellert is an academic in the field of inclusive education, with particular expertise in learning difficulties in literacy and numeracy, and leadership. She has over a decade of experience in advising school leaders and teachers about inclusion of students with disabilities in regular school settings, and a further decade of experience in Initial Teacher Education and postgraduate teaching in inclusive education and school leadership.

Dr Christos Markopoulos has extensive experience in teaching mathematics discipline as well as mathematics education for undergraduate and postgraduate education students. He has developed and taught Mathematical Content Knowledge units for pre-service teachers.
David is a marine ecologist and coral reef scientist. His research examines critical events on the early life history of corals, including coral settlement, the onset of symbiosis, and the impacts of climate change on those. He is also keenly interested on how coral-microalgal symbioses shape the growth and survival of corals. This research has important applications for conservation and restoration of coral reefs.

Dr. Sorwar is a leading international researcher with an extensive track record in the application and adoption of Information Communication Technology (ICT) for the sustainable health and wellbeing of senior citizens, information system, artificial intelligence and multimedia signal processing. He has more than 125 peer-reviewed articles. He has an extensive teaching background in computer networking, security, and interactive user experience design.
Golam Sorwar is a senior lecturer of Information Technology at Southern Cross University (SCU). Sorwar is a leading international researcher with an extensive track record in the application and adoption of Information Communication Technology (ICT) for the sustainable health and wellbeing of senior citizens. At SCU, Sorwar has been a member of and active contributor to various committees, including the Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC) and the Research Management Committee. He is the course coordinator of the Master of Information Technology (MIT) program at SCU and a Deputy Chair of the Recognition and Achievement Award committee. Previously, he acted as Director of Research and Deputy Head in the School of IT and Commerce at SCU.
Dr. Sorwar has established collaborations with research institutions (Emporia State University, USA; Guangxi University of Science and Technology, China; The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong; and Dhaka University, Bangladesh) and service providers (Feros Care) and state and national government organizations (Northern NSW LHD; Ministry of Information and Communication Technology, Government of Bangladesh). He has received a number of national and international research grants. Sorwar's research has substantial practical implications for sustainable health and wellbeing in our community. He has been working with teams of academic and healthcare clinicians to implement digital technology, including web-based technology, virtual and mixed reality, to improve patient care and support healthcare training. For example, his work on digital technology for older community-dwelling adults and their carers resulted in a better understanding of how digital technology can support older people's quality of life. He has also tested the feasibility of integrating mixed reality technology to provide interprofessional learning (IPL) to healthcare professionals in the management of deteriorating patients in NNSW LHD.
Dr. Sorwar has $150,000 in funding, including Connectivity Innovation Network (CIN) funding (as CI) in 2023, and Commonwealth Department of Innovation Industry Science and Research (DIISR) funding (as CI) in 2020. He obtained an international collaborative grant of $6,000 (TK 3,000,000) from the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology, Government of Bangladesh, in 2021. He also secured about $20,000 in internal grants from SCU to lead five research projects (as CI).
He has supervised 3 PhDs, 2 Masters by Research, and 2 Honours to completion, and is currently supervising 5 PhD and 2 Masters by Research students. Sorwar has actively supported and mentored early career researchers and HDR students.
Sorwar is a high-profile IT academic who regularly reviews articles for Australian and international journals, including Australian Health Review, Digital Health, and Frontiers in Digital Health. He has served as a technical committee member at many national and international conferences and has examined numerous PhD, Masters, and Honours theses. He also served as an organizing member of the Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Healthcare Symposium (2018, 2019, 2021) and the Symposium on Distributed Ledger Technology (SDLT) in 2022. Associate Professor John Stevens a health sociologist, a registered nurse, a founding member of the Australasian Society of Lifestyle Medicine and director of a number of companies engaged in health education and research, and works closely with Primary Health Networks.
Jubilee Smith has recently completed her PhD with Southern Cross University investigating early childhood educator decision making with digital technology. Jubilee has presented and published from the initial research which led to her PhD topic.

Dr Marianne Logan is an Adjunct Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Education. Marianne's approach to research (and teaching) is to interrogate and advance socioecology and posthumanism within a science education context, where classical science education is disrupted, and new paradigms are promoted, within the current critical period surrounding climate change. Dr Mel (Mellie) Green has been a primary school teacher for over 25 years, with 20 of those in the classroom and teacher-librarianship, and five in curriculum leadership. She completed her PhD in 2021. Her doctoral research explored student engagement in reading for enjoyment in the upper primary years. Her areas of research passion are: use of children's literature in the primary classroom, reading instruction, curriculum and pedagogy.
Moya arrived at SCU for her semester in 2008 and ended her continuing position late in 2017. Currently, she is an adjunct lecturer. Moya is a writer and has worked as an editor. Semester-long writing subjects were taught by Moya at the University of Canberra (a subject she wrote) online, the University of Adelaide (a subject she wrote), and Flinders University. Single seminars were given by Moya at the universities of Western Sydney and South Australia.
Dr. Mustafa is a mechanical engineer with a strong interest in computational mechanics and its applications in agricultural machinery design. With 17 years of research experience in the Turkish and Australian contexts, a major component of his research has focused on the discrete element and finite element method simulations of soil engaging tools, design of mechanical systems, and thermal analysis of agricultural greenhouses and desalination systems.
Dr Neville Jennings is an educator with experience at primary, secondary and tertiary levels of education. He was instrumental in preparing primary and secondary teachers at both the Lismore and Riverside Campuses of SCU, taught units in the MEd program and was deeply involved with teachers' professional development. Kathryn is an Associate Professor in the School of Environment, Science and Engineering. She is currently Deputy Head of School, and her role includes teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and research in aquatic sciences. Kathryn's research focus is the use of palaeolimnological techniques to identify environmental change caused by climatic variation and anthropogenic disturbance in estuaries and wetlands. Recent research projects have focussed on the use of bioindicators to monitor river and estuary health. Knowledge of the environmental history of ecosystems is essential to develop a fuller understanding of benchmark conditions, natural variability, and key ecosystem thresholds. Such information can be applied within management strategies to more effectively conserve environmental resources.
Kathryn teaches at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. At an undergraduate level she teaches the units Wetland Ecosystems and Earth Systems 2: the Hydrosphere. Kathryn also supervises third year research projects within the unit Integrated Projects, especially projects focused on wetland ecosystem biology, ecology and management.
