Tony is a senior caseworker and has considerable experience in asylum and immigration law. He began practising in this field at the Bristol Resource Centre (now known as Bristol Law Centre) in 1979. He was until December 2014, a senior caseworker at a Birmingham legal aid firm. He was also a senior caseworker at IAS. He is also currently a trainer on immigration, asylum and nationality law for the Joint Council for the Welfare of Immigrants (JCWI).
He has extensive experience of preparing and presenting immigration cases before the First-tier & Upper Tribunal (Asylum & Immigration Chamber). Tony is accredited by the Law Society SRA (Immigration Accreditation Scheme) at Level 2 (Senior Caseworker).
Tony speaks English, Malai and Mandarin.
CK is the Principal and founder of Citadel Immigration Lawyers Ltd. He has over 20 years of direct legal experience (6 years as a member of the justice system in the Republic of the Sudan and 14 years practicing and specializing in Immigration and Asylum law in the UK).
CK graduated from the Faculty of Law at the University of Khartoum in the Sudan in 1995. He accomplished his post-graduate studies at Staffordshire University School of Law and was awarded a Master of Laws degree in human Rights in 2002. He is accredited by the SRA (Immigration Accreditation Scheme) at Level 2 (Senior Caseworker) & as a Supervisor. He has undertaken extensive and numerous training sessions during the course of his work in this field.
As a student, he was a high achiever and was awarded a number of awards including:
• The Law School Public Law Prize/ Staffordshire University;
• LL.M. Scholarship at Staffordshire University jointly funded by the World University Service (UK), Hugh Pilkington Trust, and Staffordshire University School of Law;
• The Khartoum University Prize for the best academic performance;
• The Bar Association Prize for the best academic performance;
• Professor Al. Dharir Prize for the best academic performance in Islamic Sharia Law throughout the years of the study; and
• Abdallah Al. Hassan Prize for the best academic performance.
This has driven him to be knowledgeable and meticulous in his work. He has an in-depth knowledge of all aspects of immigration and asylum law and is results-oriented in his work. His wide-ranging caseload includes applications and appeals covering entry clearance, asylum and human rights, nationality law, leave to remain outside the immigration rules, the Points Based System (PBS), and European Law. He has also done extensive preparatory work for judicial review applications challenging numerous Home Office's decisions. CK has had two reported cases by the Upper Tribunal (Immigration & Asylum Chamber); (Goudey (subsisting marriage - evidence) Sudan [2012] UKUT 41 (IAC) (16 January 2012) & SP (allowed appeal directions) South Africa [2011] UKUT 188 (IAC) (17 March 2011)
CK worked previously for the Ministry of Justice in the Republic of Sudan. Until December 2014, he was the supervisor at a Birmingham legal aid law firm. He was a supervisor at the IAS (in administration). He supervised lawyers with various qualifications and experience in addition to his substantial caseload.
