Calcium carbonate is commonly used today as a nutritional supplements for people not getting enough calcium in their normal diet. It is important to know that this is not all it is used for. It has many uses in many day to day items that we all use with out think about what they are made from. It balances the level of pH so that the water is safe to swim in. Calcium Carbonate also has a wide variety of industrial applications. In the construction industry is is used in building materials and is a major ingredient in cement. Due to acid rain Calcium Carbonate is not uses in building materials in its lime stone form anymore.
