MCGILL - Key Persons

Dr. Bob Clark

Dr. Bob Clark, a.k.a "Care bear", is an assistant professor and clinical instructor at McGill University and has a private dental practice in Hudson, Quebec. I have always tried to put others first. When I am working with patients, or teaching students, the primary focus is on their needs and how I can help. So volunteering with Kindness in Action just fits with who I am. I know that I am providing dental care and pain relief to those who would not otherwise have access to it. The feeling that you get when you realize that you have helped to make a smile is truly priceless. Everyone can make a difference, and every little bit makes the world a better place.

Dr. Daniel Laramee

I am a general dentist graduated from Mcgill. I did a residency program at the Royal Victoria hospital. I have a private practice downtown MontreaI. I have lived in many countries and have lived in the West Indies and Spain. This has given me a taste for traveling and meeting new cultures. I have been involved over the years with numerous succesful fundraising drives for different organizations such as La Societe pour les Enfant Handicape du Quebec (associated with easter seals), Astrazeneca's "At My Best program" and Mcgill's cardiovascular CHIP program for teens. This last fund drive has allowed me to climb succesfully to the peak of Mount Kilimandjaro. I am very excited to be involved with the seasoned team of Montreal KIA and spend time with dental hygiene and dental students. This mission to Mexico is a great opportunity to make a difference to a mayan community in need and give back with our gift of the ability to practice dentistry.

Dr. Gerard Melki

My name is Gerard (aka Papa Bear), and I'm a clinical instructor at McGill University with a private clinic in LaPlaine Terrebonne. I have being volunteering with Kindness in action since 1995. It has changed my life. This wonderful experience of being able to help these people while embracing their culture warms my heart. Each year our core group, along with some fresh faces, brings our dental equipment, sets up our clinics, works hard and has a lot of laughs! Since 2000, I have had the pleasure of sharing this experience with McGill dental students and initiating them to jungle dentistry. The joy I get out of giving of myself and meeting many special people lasts a lifetime. The gratitude you see in their eyes will bring me back for many more years.

Dr. Veronique Benhamou

My name is Dr B (aka Mama Bear) A periodontist, a teacher, a traveler and a chef…. I have a private practice in Montreal and I teach at Mcgill and throughout the world. I have two beautiful children, Anne who lives in NY and Alex who is at school in Halifax. Kindness in Action and McGill Dentistry enable me to give something back to the world! I have been participating and organizing dental humanitarian missions for nearly 10 years now and each trip brings its share of emotions and inspiration. We have now grown and each year our group gets larger including dental students, hygienists and much needed "non-dental" volunteers. Thank you for your support of this worthwhile cause! We are heading out to a new site this year and I am very excited to meet new people. We will be teaching to local dental students who will be helping us.
