The mission of the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health is to improve public health, promote individual well-being and eliminate health disparities across North Carolina and around the world. The Gillings School aims to achieve even greater global impact by anticipating the future, turning research into real-world solutions, building strategic partnerships and shaping the next generation of global public health leaders... The UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health was founded as a division within the School of Medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1936. In 1939 it became a separate school - making it the first school of public health to be established within a state university. Today, the Gillings School is not only one of the largest public health schools in the country, it is one of the most consistently recognized for excellence.
