Elise (she/her) is the consultant for the language departments at Duke. Her goal is to support their teaching through sound pedagogy and educational technologies. She leads fellowships on topics such as collaborative project courses, flexible teaching, and course design. Her recent work has centered on inclusive teaching, designing workshops and co-leading the department's DEIA committee.

Haiyan (she/her) is the Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning at Duke Kunshan University, seconded from Duke Learning Innovation. Her professional interests center around advancing liberal arts education in a global setting, exploring the science of learning, and employing evidence-based strategies for continuous improvement. In her role, she leads programming, resources, and faculty development to enhance teaching effectiveness and student learning, fostering a context of global education. Haiyan is also an adjunct faculty member with interests in science education and learning experience design.

Heather Valli (she/her) is a Learning Experience Designer and a member of the Learning Tools Team, where she explores new learning technology and supports current learning tools such as Duke Extend. Heather also helps to develop and manage courses in Coursera, Open edX, and Sakai. A former website developer, eLearning administrator, and college instructor, Heather finds online course development an enjoyable way to engage many of her skill sets. Her interests include the environment, global health, transformative media, history, and English literature. Heather has a BA and an MA in English from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Nicholas Janes is an Online Course Builder helping to develop, build, and manage Duke University's massive open online courses (MOOCs). He has a wide rang of interests, including web design, digital video, and web technologies. Working as an OCB helps fulfill many of his interests, as well as his desire for continual learning. He graduated in 2014 with a bachelor's degree in Communications from the University of North Dakota. Nicholas was one of the first students at the university to earn his communications degree completely online. He plans to enroll soon in an online master's in Instructional Technology degree program from either East Carolina University or Florida State University.

Quentin Ruiz-Esparza (he/him) serves as Associate Director for Learning Innovation's Learning Experience (LX) Design team, which partners with Duke faculty to develop new models of online and hybrid learning. Quentin leads efforts in identifying new projects aligned to the university's strategic and curricular goals, forming teams that help faculty design online learning experiences and overseeing financial and operational issues related to Online Duke's suite of online education offerings. Quentin has also managed special projects for Online Duke: course redesigns for Fuqua's Global Executive MBA, Duke's Coursera Specializations in computer programming and creating Tableau dashboards for Duke's open online courses.
Randy Riddle (he/him) consults with faculty in the Social Sciences on pedagogy, learning, assessment, and appropriate technologies for teaching practices. His professional interests include active learning, "flipped" classroom methods, and inclusive classroom strategies. Randy's current work includes faculty consulting, coordinating faculty development programs and opportunities, and supporting faculty participating in Duke's online initiatives.
Randy's other interests outside of work include restoration of vintage recording formats and LGBT and film history research.

Sophia consults with faculty in education, student learning, and emerging instructional models to promote teaching innovation. Her expertise is in faculty development, instructional design, teaching practices, and online education. She enjoys exploring new ways to collaborate with faculty partners and programs across the university and across all disciplines.

Tammy is the assistant to the Vice Provost of Learning Innovation and Digital Education. Previous to moving into this role, she spent five years as the staff assistant for the Duke Learning Innovation team. Tammy has over 20 years experience as a senior level administrative assistant. Before coming to Duke she worked in a variety of industries including agricultural marketing, specialty insurance, real estate and retail. She has a B.S. Degree in Fashion Merchandising with a Business Management Emphasis from Brigham Young University.
