Five generations of the Hill family have run a butcher's shop in Butts Road since 1888... The photograph on the right shows the founder of the business, William Thomas Hill, with his son William Allen. William Thomas Hill started the business when he was 20 and oversaw the building of the shop that is still used today... This photograph was taken in about 1900 when William Allen would have been three or four years old. Both William Thomas and William Allen worked in the business all their lives with William Thomas retiring at 83 and William Allen continuing until he was 86.
