The New Craftsman was founded in the 1960s by potter Janet Leach. Since that time, it has exhibited the work of many of the UKs most important and influential artists and established itself as an authority on 20 th century St Ives art, contemporary painting, and contemporary British and international craft. The New Craftsman now represents more than 100 artists and presents eight curated exhibitions a year, with a focus on the very best new work by established and rising painters, potters, sculptors and fine-art jewellers... Regarded as one of the most important spaces in the story of British Modernism and the St Ives School artists, the New Craftsman supported the early careers of figures such as Wilhelmina Barns-Graham, Sandra Blow, Bryan Winter, Peter Lanyon and Patrick Heron. Today it engages with some of the most innovative new work on the art and contemporary craft scene.
