GRAPHIC A LA DESIGN - Key Persons

Lori Thompson

Lori discovered her love for editorial design and creative promotion as a Visual Merchandising student at Seneca College. She loved all aesthetic and marketing aspects but particularly enjoyed the Design Graphic course that was embedded in the program. After Seneca College, she decided to broaden and advance her career by attending Durham College where she later graduated from the Graphic Design program with honours. In 1995, Lori launched Graphic a la Design, providing graphic design and branding services to prestigious companies from multiple design and creative sectors downtown Toronto and across Durham Region. Having worked with a variety of creative professionals she has embraced a passion for editorial design, typography, colour theory and photography. In addition to supporting her clients and managing her graphic design business, Lori spent many years working at an established print company. Her creative insight, knowledge and leadership helped to establish the design department as she trained new designers and initiated a variety of client services. In this capacity, she oversaw design production and all aspects of pre-press work and design consultation. She became a specialist with numerous advanced design programs, typographic principles, layout and photo editing. As she grew her business, knowledge and expertise, Lori discovered a new passion, which she quickly fell in love with - teaching. Lori loves to learn and share her experiences and expertise; she graduated with honours at the Technological Education Program at Queen's University in the Faculty of Education. Shortly after, she has obtained a Specialist in Technological Education and has taken several Additional Qualification courses through the University of Toronto and York Universit y. Her strong work ethic and love for design allow her to balance Graphic a la Design and teaching. Through various small business and international corporate branding and marketing projects, Lori has contributed to the success of an array of local and internationally known businesses. As an industry leader, creative, enterprising design and lifelong learning is a way of life.
