Miss Marcela Espinosa-Lagana

Miss Espinosa-Lagana is on the General Medical Council‘s registered specialists in the UK, and she is also registered to practise as a specialist in Spain. She is fluent in Spanish and Italian and able to carry out consultations in these languages. On top of her consultant and surgical work, Miss Espinosa-Lagana has also written or co-authored several studies for various respected journals in the field of ophthalmology and laser eye surgery. At Centre for Sight, Miss Espinosa-Lagana leads several investigative projects and monitors the outcomes of refractive surgery. She's also in charge of educating the nursing staff and ensures that high standards are maintained. She is well known as incredibly professional and courteous among her satisfied patients who have said that she put their minds at ease before, during, and after the surgery. Her caring manner, skills and professionalism have been commended by numerous reviewers. Miss Marcela Espinosa-Lagana currently serves as a director and consultant ophthalmic surgeon at Centre for Sight. After finishing her medical education and specialty training in Mexico, she completed her residency in ophthalmology at the University of Gualdalajara in Jalisco. She then undertook fellowship training in cornea and keratorefractive surgery at the prestigious CODET Vision Institute in Tijuana under the mentorship of Dr Arturo Chayet, considered to be one of the best eye surgeons in the world.

Mr. Gerry Clare

Mr. Gerry Clare recently retired from his 20-year service at the British Army as a consultant ophthalmic surgeon. He was a trained paratrooper and has served alongside Special Forces, Gurkhas and Scottish Highland regiments and was decorated three times for active service. Recently, he pioneered the use of amniotic membrane as a treatment for corneal injuries sustained on the battlefield. Mr. Clare trained as an ophthalmic surgeon in some of the UK's renowned centres like Oxford and Moorfields Eye Hospitals. He also underwent extensive training in every ophthalmic subspecialty under the guidance of some of the best-known surgeons in the world. His training helped him gain a wide range of experiences and expertise in cataract surgery which enabled him to perform more than a thousand operations on every kind of cataract. This eventually piqued his interest in corneal and inflammatory eye diseases.

Mr. Glenn Carp

Mr. Glenn Carp is a highly accomplished ophthalmic surgeon. He is originally from South Africa and qualified as a doctor in Johannesburg in 1996. He is now one of the UK's best and most highly trained laser eye surgeons. Mr. Carp is on the Specialist Register with the General Medical Council (GMC), and is a member of the South African Medical and Dental Council. He began his specialist career in South Africa as an ophthalmic senior house officer followed by a year as a research officer in ophthalmology at the University of the Witwatersrand. In 2000, he began his four-year specialist registrar training at Johannesburg's St. John Eye Hospital, Africa's largest eye Hospital. He received the Tetski Patterson Award for clinical research and the Elli Dahan Registrar of the Year award for his outstanding contributions to the field. When he moved to the UK, he worked as a doctor in numerous leading hospitals including The Western Eye Hospital, Maidstone General Hospital, Preston Royal Hospital and Worcester Royal Hospital. Mr. Carp was also selected for a prestigious one-year fellowship in Cornea and nterior Segment Pathology and Surgery at London's Western Eye Hospital. He then undertook an 18-month fellowship training in laser refractive surgery at London Vision Clinic under the clinic's founder, Professor Dan Reinstein. His talent impressed Professor Reinstein, who later on appointed him as the second member of the London Vision Clinic surgical team. Today, Mr. Carp performs LASIK eye surgery, ReLEx SMILE and PRK at the clinic. Aside from treating his own, Mr. Carp himself has had LASIK eye surgery performed by Professor Reinstein and now enjoys his 20/12 vision. This unique perspective on the surgery both as a surgeon and a patient shows in the way he approaches each patient, and has earned him many positive reviews. During his spare time, he travels with his wife,and enjoys his many hobbies, including fly-fishing, scuba diving and photography. He is also an enthusiast of Formula 1 racing and 4×4 excursions.

Mr. Saj Khan

Mr. Saj Khan is a consultant ophthalmic surgeon specialising in cataract, laser and lens-based vision correction surgery. He has been a consultant at the Centre for Sight since 2007. Mr. Khan is Council Member and Treasurer of the United Kingdom and Ireland Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (UKISCRS) and also Council Member of the British Society of Refractive Surgery (BSRS), the UK's foremost organisations involved in education, training and research in the field of cataract and refractive surgery.

Mr. Sheraz Daya

Mr. Sheraz Daya is the Medical Director of Centre for Sight. After finishing his training in the United States, Mr. Daya worked as Director of Cornea and External Disease at the Catholic Medical Centre and in practice on Madison Avenue, New York. In 1993, he was recruited and appointed director and consultant ophthalmic surgeon at the Corneo Plastic Unit and Eye Bank at the Queen Victoria Hospital NHS Trust, East Grinstead. He acquired an international reputation for excellence in corneal surgery after transforming the Corneo Plastic Unit and Eye Bank. He resigned from the NHS in 2011. Mr. Daya attended the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland where he graduated in 1984 with an honours degree. He spent his internship at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast and his residency in internal medicine from 1985 to 1988 at the NY Downtown Hospital in New York. This was followed followed by another residency in ophthalmology (1988 to 1991) at the Catholic Medical Centre of Cornell University. He also completed training fellowships in cornea, anterior segment and refractive surgery at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis and trained under Richard Lindstrom of the Phillips Eye Foundation, also in Minneapolis. In 1995, Mr. Daya performed the first LASIK procedure in the UK and in 1996, he established Centre for Sight. His gracious manners and superb surgical skills have earned him plenty of rave reviews, and have drawn patients from all over the world. His former patients include royalty, prime ministers and presidents. On top of his medical duties and fellowships, Mr Daya also serves as a peer reviewer for many medical journals, and is the Chief Medical Editor for Cataract and Refractive Surgery Today. Mr. Daya was recognised for his leadership in the field of laser eye surgery by being handed the ‘Leadership in Improvement' award from the Best of Health Awards in 2009. He has also been awarded the highly prized Senior Achievement Award by the American Academy of Ophthalmology in 2009 for his contribution to Ophthalmology and the American Academy.
