The Basic Education Teachers Union of Zambia (BETUZ) is a national union for Primary and Basic Education Appointed Teachers that was formed in 1997 and registered in 1999 under the Industrial and labour Relations Act CAP 269 of the Laws of Zambia, as the Primary Teacher's Education Union of Zambia (PETUZ). The union was formed in 1999, with an initial membership of three hundred (300). The name was later changed to Basic Education Teachers Union of Zambia (BETUZ) in 2004, in line with Government policy of transforming all primary schools into Basic Schools...
