Dr Andrew Boon

Dr Andrew Boon MBChB MD FRCPath DipHSM is a Consultant Histopathologist and Cytopathologist with sub-specialist expertise in Skin Pathology, Gynaecological Pathology and Cytopathology. His NHS Practice is based at St James's University Hospital, Leeds and he practices privately at Nuffield Hospital Leeds and Spire Hospital Leeds. He is currently Medical Lead for the West Yorkshire Cervical Cytology Screening Service and a core member of the Leeds Cancer Centre Melanoma and Colposcopy MDTs. He is a member of several professional societies, including the British Association for Cytopathology, the British Society for Dermatopathology, Melanoma Focus and the British Association of Gynaecological Pathologists. He is also a member of the Expert Witness Institute. He qualified in Medicine in 1981, was Lecturer in Pathology at the University of Birmingham from 1983-1990 and moved to Yorkshire as a Consultant in 1990. His previous roles have included Deputy Medical Director, Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, Laboratory Inspector/Assessor for Clinical Pathology Accreditation (UK) Ltd. and Director of Professional Standards for the Royal College of Pathologists. He has extensive experience as an expert witness in his areas of sub-specialty practice over the past 20 years. Previous cases have related mainly to the following areas of clinical negligence: • Skin cancer, especially malignant melanoma • Ovarian and uterine cancer • Cervical cytology screening

Dr Michael Hugo Pritchard

Dr Pritchards had a full clinical and teaching timetable in two Cardiff hospitals over twenty-five years. He continues to carry out a varied research programme, has published 38 mainly first author papers in leading international journals (list available on request or on entrez Pub Med) and have lectured frequently to GPs, graduates and undergraduates, both locally and nationally, on a range of general and specific Rheumatology topics. He has also regularly presented papers at national and international Rheumatology conferences and medico-legal meetings, and has regularly attended and participated in national specialist meetings on work related disorders. Although he has carried out research programmes in many areas of rheumatology, his main current clinical, research and medico-legal interest is in personal injury, in particular the diagnosis, origins and causes of work related upper limb disorders (WRULD, RSI). He has been instructed on a wide variety of rheumatological and musculo-skeletal complaints. The former usually require an opinion on the interaction between rheumatic disorders and injuries, the latter being personal injury/WRULDs, including industrial injuries and vibration related complaints (HAVS). He has also reported on back injuries and chronic pain syndromes, increasingly road traffic accidents when there is a potential relationship between underlying systemic disease and recent injury to be evaluated or the client has developed prolonged symptoms. He has also been instructed on an increasing number of clinical negligence cases where there has been a rheumatological aspect, either as a primary rheumatological disease or a component of a more generalised condition.

Dr Michael William Platt

Dr. Platt provides medicolegal expert witness reporting in the specialisations of Pain Management and Palliative Care. He graduated as a doctor from the medical school of the University of Western Australia in 1977. After training in pain medicine and anaesthesia in Perth, Australia, and London he became Senior Lecturer in Anaesthesia at Imperial College and St. Mary's Hospital in 1991. he is currently Consultant and Honorary Senior Lecturer in Pain Medicine and Anaesthesia at St. Mary's Hospital and Imperial College Faculty of Medicine. He also He is also Honorary Consultant in Palliative care for Kensington and Chelsea Primary Care Trust. While working in this position, he studied for and was awarded an MA in Bioethics from Surrey University in 2005, with a special interest in end of life issues, particularly in pain medicine. His special interests are nerve pain and functional disability, and he is an experienced expert witness in Pain Management.

Dr Peter Turkington

Dr Turkington is a Consultant in Respiratory Medicine with a sub speciality interest in Sleep and Ventilatory Failure. He has been a Consultant at Salford Royal Hospital since 2003 and set up the Sleep Clinic at Salford Royal Hospital which manages patients with Obstructive Sleep Apnoea Syndrome as well as all forms of Sleep Disorders. He also treats patients with complex respiratory problems of all causes including asthma (including occupational asthma), COPD, fibrosing lung diseases (including occupational lung diseases) and diseases of the pleura (including asbestos related diseases). Dr Turkington qualified at Leeds University in 1993 and undertook his post graduate medical training in Yorkshire including his post graduate degree whilst working at St James' University Hospital in Leeds. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in London and a member of the British Thoracic Society and European Respiratory Society Dr Turkington also has significant medical management experience at Salford Royal where he has been Medical Director since 2013 and latterly he has taken on the role as Chief Officer of Salford Care Organisation within the Northern Care Alliance. Dr Turkington has a large medicolegal practice and can provide reports in a wide aspect of Respiratory Medicine within his expertise.

Dr Tim McCormick

Dr Tim McCormick is a Consultant in Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust. He qualified from The Royal Free Hospital School of Medicine, London in 2000. Dr McCormick became a consultant in 2013, and manages patients with long term pain and provides emergency anaesthetic care. Before accepting his consultant post, Dr McCormick became a Fellow of the Faculty of Pain Medicine at the Royal College of Anaesthetists (FFPMRCA) and a Fellow of the Royal College of Anaesthetists (FRCA). He also has an European Diploma in Regional Anaesthesia (EDRA) and completed a Fellowship in Neuromodulation with the then President of the International Neuromodulation Society (INS).

Dr Will Kenyon

Dr Kenyon is an expert in General Practice. He has extensive experience across a number of primary healthcare settings and can provide reports which consider care afforded in community general practice, the custodial (or prison) setting and the Armed Forces setting. For his work in the custodial setting Dr Kenyon has been recognised at a regional and national level. Dr Kenyon has worked as a medico-legal expert for 5 years. He will provide reports for both Claimant and Defendant; increasingly however, he is being instructed by the Defendant. He will issue 30-35 reports a year; this work being undertaken alongside his full time NHS work. Away from his NHS and medico-legal work, Dr Kenyon continues to serve as a Reservist in the Army Medical Services. He has recently completed CUBS qualification - the recognised industry lead in this field. Redacted reports are available on request.

Dr. Hanlie Du Plessis

She has established herself as an expert in a variety of anaesthetic techniques as well as anaesthetic monitoring modalities. Her work covers a wide range of caring for patients in the elective and emergency setting which often includes planning the peri-operative care and risk assessment of high risk patients. She has enjoyed taking on management responsibilities throughout her medical career. As a consultant she has contributed at a local and a national level. She is currently the lead for her on call group Morbidity and Mortality review as well as the Lead for Anaesthesia in Ophthalmology. She is also on the management committee for the Nuffield Department of Anaesthetic Consultants (NDAC) In her previous posts, she was instrumental in developing the role and rotas of the resident consultant anaesthetists as well as acting as spokesperson. At a national level, she was a committee member of the Scottish Airway group (2010-2012) and Scottish Acute Pain Society (2008-2015). During her training career she was a trainee representative at hospital and national level. As senior registrar, she was chairperson of the anaesthetic trainees' committee and regularly represented trainee views and issues (2007-2008).

Mr Mark Forster

Mr Mark Forster is Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, Cardiff & Vale NHS Trust - University Hospital of Wales & Llandough Hospital and Clinical Lead for Knee Surgery, Cardiff & Vale NHS Trust - University Hospital of Wales & Llandough Hospital. Mr Forster is an orthopaedic surgeon with a practice focused on the management of knee problems - arthroscopic surgery, knee ligament reconstruction, partial knee replacement, total knee replacement, revision knee replacement, patella disorders, adolescent knee problems, cartilage resurfacing techniques and treatment of knee arthritis in young and active patients. He is based in Cardiff. As a knee specialist, he receives many complex tertiary referrals and his practice covers all types of knee disorders over all ages. He has received extensive specialist knee surgery training from 3 Knee Fellowships in the UK and Australia. Mr Forster's Orthopaedic expert witness role specialises in knee and trauma surgery (he performs over 500 knee operations per year) and he provides medicolegal expert witness reports on a wide range of knee issues.

Mr Mark Latimer

Mr Latimer works as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at both Addenbrookes Hospital and at Peterborough and Stamford Hospitals. He has a specialist interest in children's orthopaedics, adult lower limb surgery and trauma surgery. Before studying medicine he graduated from Oxford University with a degree in Engineering Economics and Management. He performed Engineering research for both ICI and Monsanto as an intern before going on to complete a fourth year Masters in Engineering at Oxford. He subsequently studied Pre-Clinical Medicine at Oxford University and Clinical Medicine at Cambridge University. He was awarded the degree of MBBChir in December 1997. He joined the East Anglian Orthopaedic Rotation in 2002. This included 2 years of dedicated lower limb surgery in Cambridge. He passed his FRCS (Tr & Orth) exams in 2007 and was selected for the prestigious Ingham Fellowship in Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgery in Sydney. He spent a little over a year in Sydney. The fellowship included a comprehensive training in all aspects of children's orthopaedic and trauma surgery as well as an opportunity to work in the Kerry Packer Research Institute with Professor David Little. He has published academic papers in numerous fields including cardiology, anaesthesia, plastic surgery, neurosurgery and of course orthopaedics! His medicolegal practice includes all aspects of orthopaedics including medical negligence and non-accidental injury. He has completed over 50 specialist reports and has appeared in court on several occasions.
