Barny Daley is the Global Technical Director at Network Rail Consulting, taking the lead on interaction between NRC and Network Rail, strengthening the collaborative relationship and enabling the sharing of knowledge and best practice between NRC's international clients and the operator of the UK railway.
Most recently Barny was Deputy Chief Engineer for Network Rail, leading on engineering assurance, interoperability and capability development for engineers across the company.
Joining Network Rail in 2004 Barny oversaw the introduction of the upgraded West Coast infrastructure into passenger service. In 2009 he became Head of Infrastructure Reliability leading a team of cross-functional engineers to reduce the number of infrastructure failures impacting the railway by more than 20% over 5 years. During this time, he was technical lead for the Intelligent Infrastructure project which has invested £80m on remote condition monitoring for almost 40,000 assets.
Barny is a Chartered Engineer with 30 years' railway engineering experience and achievement in both private and public sectors.

Dominic has a broad range of industry experience spanning Oil and Gas, Aerospace, Nuclear, Defence and Railway industries. He is a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in conducting Systems Engineering including Requirements Management, early lifecycle development of major projects, verification and validation and delivering processes and procedures.
Dominic joined Network Rail Consulting in April 2022 to maintain a centralised Systems Engineering capability based in the UK to support internal and external clients internationally. To date, he has supported the development of an internal knowledge hub and has spent 6 months developing and delivering systems engineering standards.
Prior to joining Network Rail Consulting, Dominic held the position of Systems Engineer for Network Rail's Thameslink Programme for 2 years followed by over 4 years with Southern Capital Delivery developing infrastructure projects. Before this, he spent nearly 5 years with Atkins (SNC Lavalin), completing the graduate scheme and taking the role of Engineering Consultant.
Dominic is Chartered Engineer and a Member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. He holds the position of Industry Liaison Officer and has served as an Ordinary Member of Council for the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. He has a MEng in Aeronautical Engineering from City, University of London.

Helen has over 25 years' experience in the Human Resources sector. She has experience of leading and managing teams within UK, Europe, US & Japan as well as running her own HR consultancy for small to medium size businesses who benefited from her professional HR expertise.
Helen joined Network Rail in November 2016 as the Senior HR Business Partner looking after the Safety Technical & Engineering part of the business. She then spent 12 months leading on the behavioural intervention & culture piece within the Electrical Safety Delivery programme, which then led to her becoming the HR lead for Route Services Safe Service Delivery Programme. She joined Network Rail Consulting as the Global Head of HR in September 2021.
Prior to joining Network Rail, Helen was the Global HR Lead for Alstom UK, Thermal Transverse Technologies & Steam Turbines. Before this as well as running her own HR consultancy for a number of years, she worked in various sectors including Automotive, Oil & Gas and 18 years within the Public Sector.
Helen is MCIPD qualified with a BA Degree in English & Drama and an MA in Human Resource Management.

Ian Dobbs has been involved in the public transport industry for over 40 years, working in the public and private sectors in both Australasia and the UK.
Born in Nottingham in the UK and educated at university in Scotland, Ian spent his formative years in the UK as a senior manager with British Rail. In 1993 he moved across the globe and was appointed as Chief Executive of the Public Transport Corporation in Victoria, Australia leading the state's transport reform program before establishing his own consulting business.
In 2005 he returned to the UK private sector as CEO of Stagecoach Group's rail division - one of the largest rail operators in the UK. Here he managed a number of the UK's private rail and tram franchises, acted as a Director of the Association of Train Operating Companies and latterly was appointed Deputy Chair of the UK Government's Rail Value for Money Study in 2010.
In 2011 he returned to Australia as inaugural Chairman and CEO of Public Transport Victoria, the state of Victoria's multi-modal public transport authority - a position he retired from in 2015.

Jeremy was formerly senior vice president for finance at Alstom Transport in France and previously spent 14 years at Rolls-Royce in a range of senior finance and supply chain roles in the UK and the United States. Jeremy is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and has a master's in manufacturing from Cambridge University.
Jeremy leads the finance function for Network Rail which includes: group finance, treasury, internal audit and risk, planning and regulation, and long-term planning and funding.

Jonathan has over 30 years' of railway engineering experience ranging from signalling design, testing & commissioning, project engineering & coordination, and system development. Working within Network Rail, Jonathan has worked in roles delivering complex signalling and recontrol projects, control centre projects, and in overarching system coordination and integration roles ensuring the overall project delivers its business and safety outcomes.
Jonathan joined Network Rail in April 2007 to work on major Resignalling schemes in the West Midlands area of the UK. Jonathan joined NRC in January 2016 to work on the California high-speed rail program as Control Systems SME. Jonathan now works within NRCs System Integration team bringing his experience of complex, real-world, railway projects to help our clients deliver their project successfully.
Prior to joining Network Rail, Jonathan was a Project Engineer working with Invensys Rail (now Siemens Mobility) working on the delivery of signalling, control & indication systems, and control centre projects. Since joining Network Rail, Jonathan has worked in coordination, procurement, and delivery roles on major resignalling projects and on the delivery of two Rail Operating Centres (ROCs) in the Northwest & Central route of Network Rail in the UK. The ROCs are the future home for control centres activities across the route including signalling control, route control, incident management, and possession management.
Jonathan is an Associate Member of the Institute of Railway Signalling Engineers (IRSE) and is working toward full membership. Jonathan is also an Associate member of the Chartered Institute of Railway Operations (CIRO) and is working towards full membership. He is currently studying for an MSc in Railway Systems Engineering and Integration at the University of Birmingham.

Mark has over 40 years' experience in the real estate and infrastructure sectors both as a client and consultant. He has practiced internationally in France, Czech Republic, Middle East, India and Hong Kong and lived in the United Arab Emirates for ten years. Mark has maintained directorships and is currently a non-executive director for Bedfordshire NHS Foundation Trust.
Mark joined Network Rail Consulting in September 2023 as a Non-Executive Director to provide assurance, support and strategic advice to the leadership team.
Mark was previously a Board Member of GL Hearn (a subsidiary of Capita Group); CEO of Programme Cost Consultancy for Aecom and a senior partner at E C Harris (now Arcadis). Mark started his career at British Rail as a permanent way engineer for the Chief Civil Engineer, London Midland Region
