Sam Kankanamge

Job Titles:
  • Teacher
  • Osteopath & Acupuncturist
  • Osteopath and Sen Wellness Founder & Director
  • Sen Wellness Founder
Sam Kankanamge BSc (Hons) Osteo, DPO, Dip.Acu is an exceptional, world renowned healthcare professional, and qualified osteopath who has been called ‘the best back specialist in the country' by The Times (2014). Registered with the General Osteopathic Council, he also has specialist postgraduate qualifications in Paediatric Cranial Osteopathy and Acupuncture. In 2007, Sam founded the Sen Wellness Clinic and the Sen Wellness Foundation, a registered UK charity. The Foundation has funded free treatments for hundreds of children and their families in the UK and Sri Lanka and in recent years has expanded to include environmental sustainability and conservation work in Sri Lanka. Sam has over 25 years' experience treating newborns to adults; assisting individuals and families in the UK and internationally. Combining both western and eastern philosophy, treatment is designed individually for each patient and is based primarily on osteopathic, cranial osteopathic and acupuncture principles. Supported by his medical training, Sam draws on his wealth of experience in wider fields of practice including: centuries-old ancient energetic healing, ayradic-yogic and chi-gong techniques. Together these help him to provide truly holistic treatments, and the best possible care and results for his patients. After several decades of successful practice treating patients in London, Sam began to dream of expanding this work to support people in an even deeper way. His vision was to return to the lush nature and Ayurvedic traditions of his birthplace in southern Sri Lanka and build a sanctuary: a special haven of healing, nourishment and growth for all those who visit, including the local community. Sam's vision became a reality and Sen Wellness Sanctuary proudly opened its doors in December 2014. Sam initially studied acupuncture in Sri Lanka at the International Open University for Complementary Medicine in Colombo South General Hospital 1988-1992, where he went on to run his own clinic and teach acupuncture. Sam furthered his academic studies by completing the undergraduate degree at the British School of Osteopathy (BSO) in 1997 and then the post graduate diploma at the London Osteopathic Centre for Children, teaching MSc-level Paediatric Osteopathy at the BSO. He has trained and worked with leading authorities in acupuncture and osteopathy across China, Sri Lanka, Australia, Europe and the United States. Registered with BUPA, PPP and all major health insurances, Sam has full professional indemnity insurance cover.
