Jeff Dornenburg - President

The founder of Dornenburg Design (now DKA), Jeff is an expert in consulting with clients to help them shape their positioning and core messages - the disciplines around which successful branding campaigns are built. Prior to opening his own business, Jeff was Assistant Creative Director for The Travelers and Art Director for The Hartford Life Insurance Companies. A graduate of Boston College, he holds a B.A. in Philosophy. He has served on the Board of Managers of the Farmington Valley YMCA, the Simsbury Economic Development Commission, Simsbury's 350th Anniversary Task Force, the Farmington Valley Arts Center and the Urban League of Greater Hartford. He recently finished a seven-year term as trustee of the Watkinson School where he served as vice president of the board. Jeff currently serves as chair of the board of Simsbury Meadows Performing Arts Center. Jeff is a painter and recently earned his MFA at Vermont College of Fine Arts. Jeff is an avid bird watcher. Among his favorite birds are crows and ravens because they are extremely resourceful and maintain strong family ties. And like Jeff, they can't sing to save themselves.

Julia Golin

Julia is versatile in digital, with complementary skills in communications technology and creativity. She received her BA in Multimedia Web Design and Development, with a double minor in Computer Science and Communication, from the University of Hartford and graduated magna cum laude. Prior to joining DKA, Julia developed user-friendly designs and delivery methods for Kiyomi Beauty. She loves a creative challenge, while making clients and their customers happy with what she creates.

Kathy Bousquet

Job Titles:
  • Art Director
With distinctive design that is always strategically on-target, Kathy‘s main concern is what's right for the client. Her work runs the gamut from annual reports to tradeshow materials to outdoor media. Since joining DKA in 1996, Kathy, with her typical meticulous style, has been a mainstay of our design process. She's worked on a variety of project assignments including identity systems, logos, marketing and branding. Before something leaves here, Kathy's probably participated in some part of it - and improved it by doing that. Previously, Kathy held graphic design positions with Ensign-Bickford, Fitzgerald Direct Marketing, Inc. and Pratt & Whitney Aircraft. She is a graduate of Paier College of Art in Hamden, CT where she earned a B.F.A. in Graphic Design.

Nancy Dornenburg

Job Titles:
  • Office Manager
Nancy uses her life-long love of words and language to help us put even the most wayward copy back on track. Proofing or editing, she is at home with a red pen in hand. Nancy's favorite phrase is, "Let's try something different this time." A graduate of the University of Vermont, Nancy holds a Master's Degree from Boston University School of Social Work. While serving on the board of the Hartford Hospital Auxiliary, she co-chaired a number of committees and coordinated distribution of the Auxiliary's funds to applicants. Nancy has served on the board of the Friends of the Simsbury Public Library, and was an organizer of the Hartford Women's Marches in 2017 and 2018.

Tod Kallenbach

Tod has a solid understanding of how to bring strategy and creative to life in diverse markets and media. Prior to joining DKA in 2004, Tod was Senior Director of External Relations for The Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts. He also held positions as Assistant Director of Corporate Communications for Gerber Scientific, Inc. and VP/Sr. Account Supervisor at O'Neal & Prelle Advertising & Public Relations. His in-depth experience in agency, corporate and non-profit marketing includes market research, strategic planning, brand development, product positioning, advertising, public relations, sales promotion and special events. Tod is a graduate of the University of Connecticut with a BA in Communications. He is Chairman of the Burlington Economic Development Commission and Past President of the American Marketing Association-Connecticut Chapter. Tod was awarded the 2017 Distinguished Citizen Award by the Burlington Chamber of Commerce. Tod is an avid follower of the UConn Huskies and Boston sports teams. He has infinite patience, optimism and a good sense of humor.
