Adenike has more than 22 years of experience preparing and prosecuting patent applications in a variety of technical areas and is well versed in filing strategies for US, PCT, and national phase patent applications. She has particular expertise in optics and the complex mechanical technologies involved in smart devices. As a patent agent at a Canadian startup later acquired by Google, Adenike focused almost exclusively on drafting patent applications for the company's smart glasses product, which involved working with eye tracking algorithms and hardware. Adenike has successfully trained engineers in patent drafting and worked with IP teams to identify inventions and direct creative IP strategy to protect them for years to come.
In addition to her technical and strategic expertise, Adenike is an accomplished entrepreneur. She founded and directed her own private patent practice for more than 16 years, where she handled a sizable patent portfolio for a large pharmaceutical and medical systems company, among others. She has earned certificates related to innovation, entrepreneurship, and industry disruption from Harvard Business School Online. Adenike is also passionate about furthering her technical education to better assist her clients: She has taken advanced coursework in machine learning, modeling, and simulation principles and is working toward a master's degree in computer and information technology at the University of Pennsylvania.

Amy is an intellectual property litigator who has represented clients in patent, trade secret, trademark, and contract litigations. Amy's background in chemical and bioengineering enables her to understand the technology of her clients, and has made her a valuable contributor on cases requiring specific technical knowledge. Prior to entering the legal profession, Amy worked in Cambridge, Massachusetts on a genome project for a pharmaceutical company, and as a chemical engineer for a technology consulting company.

Her Ph.D. research focused on identifying previously unknown biochemical reactions, genes, and proteins in conserved biosynthetic pathways. During her Ph.D. program, she participated in a University Technology Transfer Office program where she learned the process of creating a technology start-up and licensing patents from universities. This experience inspired her to pursue law school and a career as a patent attorney.

Brandon represents a broad range of clients and industries, including mechanical and electromechanical devices, medical devices and related delivery systems, gas turbine engines, automotive technology, tools, industrial and construction equipment, laboratory equipment, process and manufacturing equipment, sporting goods, footwear, apparel, and more. While attending engineering school, Brandon worked as an engineer intern in Cedar City, Utah at a chemical production company that produces ammonium perchlorate, which is the leading oxidizing agent for solid propellant rockets, booster motors, and missiles that are used in space exploration, commercial satellite transportation, and national defense programs. During his time with the company, Brandon designed electromechanical security systems for the production facility related to compliance requirements set by the Department of Homeland Security.
With firm foundations in intellectual property law, science, and technology, as well as a passion for learning the new technology of his clients, Brandon delivers efficient and effective services to his clients. Caitlin is a patent agent providing technical consultation across a wide range of scientific and engineering fields. Her engineering expertise includes power systems, power system design and design programming of microcontroller circuits. She has more than 10 years of patent prosecution experience including drafting of numerous successful appeal briefs and petitions, as well as assistance with successful inter partes and ex parte re-examination requests.
Caitlin was part of an award-winning student team assisting Portland-based startup BETTERY, Inc. with design and prototyping of circuitry for recharging and testing of rechargeable NiMH batteries, for inclusion in retail-located automated battery swap stations.

Caitlin also has a thorough understanding of the complex world of intellectual property her clients must navigate: As an IP commercialization intern at Michigan State, she examined intellectual property assets generated at the university and determined commercial potential and market structure, as well as validated licensing leads.

Through this experience, Caroline cultivated a familiarity with a range of industries including technology, consumer packaged goods, outdoor sportswear, entertainment, automobile and financial brands. Her passion for problem solving and love of brands ultimately drove Caroline to pursue a career in intellectual property law to help individuals and companies protect the fruits of their labor and innovative thinking.

Erika is a patent agent in the firm's Computer Science group. Prior to joining Klarquist, Erika was a Patent Examiner at the USPTO, where she specialized in patents for software development, including compilers, programming languages, software testing, and inter-process communication. Erika has also worked as a computer programmer, using Oracle database tools, IBM midframe computers, Java, Perl, and Python.
Erika earned her Ph.D. in Neuroscience at Johns Hopkins University, where she studied critical periods in neural development. She published her research in Science, the top U.S. science journal. Her previous laboratory research included electron and light microscopy, implantable electrical devices (cochlear implant), and image data processing. Erika's previous lab experience was in a molecular biology lab, where she managed to keep a few cell lines alive and learned recombinant DNA techniques.
