Welcome to Doe Run Elementary School. The 2022-23 school year is going to be filled with lots of fun activities and learning opportunities for our students. Our teachers and staff are dedicated to ensuring that we are meeting the needs of all of our students in order for them to reach their full potential and make a positive impact on our community. Covid-19 has changed a lot of things, but not our dedication to providing the best education for our learners. My name is Art Paynter and I am the principal at Doe Run Elementary School. I am very excited to be in my seventh year in the Manheim Central School District. Manheim has always been a community of great pride and I am honored to serve the students, teachers, families, and community. I am entering my 23rd year in education as a teacher and administrator. As a teacher, I taught Kindergarten and First Grade at Wharton Elementary where I learned the importance of early literacy and the value of students starting their school experience in a positive way. Previously, I spent four years as the principal of George Washington Elementary in the School District of Lancaster, which taught me the significance of a positive school climate and the possibilities that are present when schools collaborate within themselves and the community. As a parent myself, I relate to the many challenges our children face today and it strengthens my own efforts in ensuring our students are surrounded by caring adults who will afford them every opportunity to achieve and be successful. This school year our focus is We Are Respectful, Responsible, and Safe. Our students will be learning about each of these focus areas in fun and meaningful ways. In addition to building a school community that is respectful, responsible, and safe, we will be venturing into Mass Customized Learning as we look to create an ideal learning environment for our 21 st Century Learners.

Mr. Michael J. Pyle

Job Titles:
  • Principal
I am honored to begin my fourth year as a principal in the Manheim Central School District. We are excited to open the doors of Baron Elementary and start creating new memories for our learners! I am entering my twenty-third year in education as a teacher and administrator. As a teacher, I taught eighteen years in grades four through six in the Manheim Central School District. I have also served as the assistant principal of both Stiegel and Doe Run Elementary Schools. My goal is to have every student of Baron Elementary wildly excited about coming to school each day. Our staff is committed to providing a safe and nurturing learning environment where all students will continue to grow both socially and academically on their way to becoming lifelong learners. At Baron Elementary, we look forward to forming positive and collaborative relationships with the community members of Manheim. In my free time, I enjoy attending my daughters' sporting events and spending time with my family. I also have the difficult responsibility of being a Philadelphia sports fan. When I'm not on an athletic field, I can be found working in my yard, playing with my dog, or reading something about history. As a parent, I understand the importance of developing lasting relationships that support our youngest learners. Together, we can make this an exciting year for all of our students. We encourage the parents of our learners to get involved with the many activities and events that Baron Elementary has to offer. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
